Gawkk: Twitter for Video

Last week, we spotted Gawkk at the Web 2.0 Expo, and they told us they were the “Twitter for Video” which really got our attention. This website lets you watch, share, and discuss videos from around the Web with friends by creating your own channel, and writing short posts with a link to your favorite videos. What’s nice about it is that you can watch the video on the same page, and your viewers can leave messages, vote on them, share them on their social network, and even grab the embed code. The site also hosts tons of “featured channels” such as HBO, Hulu, E! Online, TMZ, and more. You can search videos by category, popular videos, and newest. Gawkk integrates with Twitter so you can also tweet from the site! Here’s a quick video from the Expo last week:

This media management system is great for people who want to drag and drop files between their Flickr, YouTube, Picasa, and Facebook account without visiting each site separately. Users get 2GB of free online storage so they can store their multimedia, and can create widgets to post on their webpages and social networks.

Did you know your IM conversations are stored in your computer? Of course you did, that’s why you turned that feature off, right? If you want more privacy, and just want to make sure your dirty notes aren’t being stored, you should check out Bigstring’s self-destructing instant messaging. Yoono is one of those web applications you’ll have to keep an eye on because it’s going to change the way you socialize online.
