Men, if you absolutely suck at shopping for the lady in your life, Gift Girl is here to lend you a helping hand. It aims to be an online destination that dishes out shopping advice to help men eliminate wrong choices by delivering the perfect gift selection. This solution-based site debuted nearly a week ago and integrates the latest technology with fashion expertise for the time- and taste-challenged male.

The site boasts thousands of designer items that hover between $100 to more than $100,000 in terms of price, with new content being added on a daily basis in order to keep the site and its selections fresh. Gift Girl content includes:

“Gift Girl Collections” – Ranging from New York City Girl to Lazy Sunday Girl, Nantucket Girl and more., complete ensembles are suggested to match many moods, looks and occasions.
“Gift Girl Says…” – Candid advice on how and why the item would make a perfect gift and for whom.

Celebrities Talking Tech

Sandra2Switched has been conducting some interesting celeb questionnaires with the likes of Hilary Duff, Joan Collins and now Sandra Bernhard, all who offer us a glimpse into their tech-filled or tech-less lives. Sandra Bernhard is the latest celeb to get grilled by Switched with questions like, What gadgets do you like? What annoys you the most in a gadget? and What gadget would you bring to a deserted island? I love her response to the last question: My cell phone so I can have someone swing by and pick me up. Then again, there probably wouldn’t be any reception on this island. Just the same, I better not get deserted in my living room, bedroom or at the head of my kitchen table. I don’t get service there either… I hear ya sister!

Beauty Never Looked So Pixelated

Pixeljewel

MocoLoco came across a kind of jewelry that’s half-pixelated, half-stolen. Designers Mike and Maaike created a Stolen Jewels collection comprised of actual stolen jewels printed on scored leather. Here’s how they did it:

From MocoLoco:

Per Mike and Maaike; "An exploration of tangible vs. virtual in relation to real and perceived value. Using Google Image Search, we browsed through some of the most expensive and often famous jewelry in the world, the resulting low-res images we found were stolen, doctored, then transferred onto leather, creating a tangible new incarnation. With the expense of the jewels and the intricacy of their construction stripped away, their essence and visual intensity are extracted.

Stolen Pieces include the Hope Diamond Broach, the Golden Jubilee Diamond Broach, the Great Chrysanthemum Necklace, and Imelda Marcos’ Ruby Necklace with Diamonds by Van Cleef & Arpels among others."

Gadgets For a Healthy Kitchen

June 14, 2007 by Techie Diva

PinkmixWhen we talk and think about gadgets, the last thing that comes to mind is a food chopper or a mixer. Could that have anything to do with the fact that you spending more time in your office than the kitchen? Perhaps, but when Summer rolls around and you look down to notice the not-so-cute love handles getting bigger, you know it’s time to start cooking at home again. WebMD’s Elaine Magee gives us a great list of the top gadgets you need in your kitchen. I wish she would’ve included some pictures, because I have no idea what some of those kitchen gadgets look like (Zester, anyone?). Maybe now you’ll be motivated to download some yummy recipes from Epicurious. Check out Gabrielle Reece’s kitchen tour video too. Via That’s Fit

Segway Mom

May 24, 2007 by Techie Diva

Matt over at Crunchgear found this picture of a mom pushing a stroller while riding on her Segway. That just doesn’t look safe, and I imagine it takes a lot of coordination to be able to do this.  What do you think? Could a Segway stroller combo be in the future? Anyone in Seattle seen this ladySegwaymom? I’d love to see a video of this…

Southpaws find a niche

March 27, 2007 by girlrobot

anything-left-handedI myself am a left hander, and sometimes it can get frustrating to see many products available on the market from mice to fountain pens and even the humble scissors cater for only right handers and no one else. We southpaws often have to adapt ourselves in this right handed world, and the results are a less productive session at work and increased levels of frustration. I am happy to announce the website of a company that has been bringing lefties all over the world products that were specifically tailor-made for them since 1968. Anything Left Handed has a catalog of over 250 products that are guaranteed to make a positive difference in your life - unless, of course, you are a rightie.

You will be able to find all sorts of items ranging from scissors, children’s products, educational games, kitchen implements, garden and D.I.Y. tools, golf equipment, writing equipment, stationery, pocket knives, watches and clocks, and computer peripherals that cater to your uniqueness. No matter where you reside, Anything Left Handed will be able to deliver any order to your doorstep for a minimal fee. Check out the site today and see for yourself. The proof, after all, is in the pudding.

Alice in Wonderland comes alive

March 23, 2007 by girlrobot

alice-book-art

They say that a picture speaks a thousand words, but I think that this picture you see above definitely mouths off much more than that figure. It is not only interesting to see Alice (of the Wonderland fame) standing with her back facing you, contemplating on the many empty chairs in front of her despite hosting a tea party, but what makes the entire artwork even more enticing is the fact that Alice and her surroundings were actually cut out and folded from the pages of the Alice in Wonderland book itself.

I received the image from one of the many random forwards in my e-mail, but you can head on to the FoolzParadize forum and check out where it all began. There are more than just a single variation, and some of them involve a bed of flowers with the background as an index list of all flowers, while the Pied Piper storybook opens up to reveal cut-outs of the man himself holding on to a string of children, leading them out of the ungrateful town. Who says creativity is dead?
