The “Blackjack 3″ By A Different Name

Posted on 28 October 2008 by Cat

Samsung has released the Samsung Epix cell phone and casually renamed one of my favorite models.  We all know this is the Blackjack II with more features, but they have changed the name along with the features offered.

Get this, it has a touch screen!  I am wanting to upgrade my Blackjack II ASAP now that I’ve read up on this release.  A 2 megapixel camera, Windows 6.1, 1800 mAh standard battery (this means it will stay charged longer than the version II did, and it was already an improvement from the version I) and much more.  The AT&T site has a breakdown of all the great statistics of this phone.

I can’t wait to go shopping for this baby, but for now I’ll have to stare at it’s luciousness via the ‘net.

Vela Range Hood throws in LCD TV as well

Posted on 28 October 2008 by BabyReaps

Most kitchens these days already come with a TV - after all, chefs do need some form of entertainment while they’re busy preparing the day’s meals, right? Of course, more seasoned ones won’t end up cutting themselves accidentally while chopping up some carrots into fine slices with their favorite soap opera on air, although novices had best concentrate on the task at hand lest a finger gets severed. The Vela Range Hood helps save space in the home by featuring a built-in LCD TV. It is constructed from premium quality stainless steel, and touch screen controls ensure easy maintenance compared to knobs, buttons and dials that could suffer with all the grease going in between them. As for the hood itself, it comes with four speed options and an automatic switch-on with speed regulation. You will also know when the time is to wash the anti-grease filter thanks to a light indicator.

It’s all about love

Posted on 28 October 2008 by BabyReaps

Are you so in love with your girlfriend, but your bank account does not have the necessary Benjamins available to get her a shiny, big rock for her birthday? Well, if she is interested in computers and can’t live without gizmos and accessories, I am sure she will be touched by your gesture of picking up this heart-shaped microSD memory card reader. Well, if she ain’t too happy about it, let her know it not only works with regular microSD memory cards but microSDHC cards as well, making it future proof just like how you are to her. Of course, she’ll most probably prefer an iPhone instead, but hey - didn’t mom used to tell me that it is the thought that counts? I guess that generation is long gone, replaced by the current capitalist consumerism mentality that has dragged us into this global financial turmoil we’re in today.

Aigo MP5-MK3510 portable media player

Posted on 27 October 2008 by BabyReaps

Anything to do with Formula 1 is definitely expensive - have you taken a look at the amount they charge for concessions at any Formula 1 event? Those are even higher than what 5-star hotels charge, and the fan gear you pick up are definitely not worth the price, although you do have bragging rights to friends and family who see you wear those. Aigo’s gotten off their butts to make full use of their Formula 1 racing McLaren Mercedes sponsorship by rolling out the MP5-MK3510 - a portable media player that features a 4.3″ display at 480 x 272 resolution, support for RM, RMVB, AVI, FLV, DAT, MPG, MPEG and MP3, WMA, FLAC, APE with BBE and SRS file formats, an electronic book reader, an integrated FM tuner and a photo viewer. There is no word on pricing, but hopefully it won’t be too expensive and neither should it be too easy on your pockets lest sub-par materials are used within.

Remote Controlled Upright Pinball Game

Posted on 27 October 2008 by BabyReaps

Who knew that pinball could actually be remote controlled? Well, all common convention is defied with the introduction of the Remote Controlled Upright Pinball Game. This electronic pinball game must be left standing upright on a table and is played just like flipping channels, thanks to a remote control. Chances are this will help spare you the pain and discomfort of standing hunched over a console. You will find yourself being thrown back to the good old days of the early arcade years with classic features including flashing LED lights, solenoid controlled flippers and hidden tunnels. Depending on your skill level, you are able to choose from three different levels in either one or two player modes. For those who want something different, this Remote Controlled Upright Pinball Game can even be played in the dark thanks to its glow-in-the-dark feature. You can pick it up for $119.95.

Philips GoGear LUXE MP3 player does more than just music

Posted on 26 October 2008 by BabyReaps

Philips is back in the groove where MP3 players are concerned with the GoGear LUXE from its GoGear portable audio player range. At first glance, I was fooled into thinking this was a miniature Nokia Prism handset from afar, but upon closer inspection, I realized that I won’t be able to make any phone calls from this, but instead use it to playback my favorite MP3 tunes only. In addition to being a portable audio player, it also doubles up as a Bluetooth headset that features a built-in microphone to answer any incoming calls. Other technologies include active noise canceling, a one-line display to relay basic information, an integrated FM tuner, 2GB of storage space and proprietary audio enhancement technology that helps remove audio compression artifacts for clearer audio. You will be able to choose from red, silver and a chromed shell (the latter in the future), as long as you’re willing to part with $94 for the GoGear LUXE when it is launched in Singapore this November.

Hammer Storage rolls out new pocket hard drive

Posted on 26 October 2008 by BabyReaps

Hammer Storage has been laying low for quite some time already, and this time round they’re back with a vengeance with the new pocket friendly hard drive known as the morespace Portable. This portable storage device does not weigh more than 5 ounces and is able to hold a 2.5″ hard drive, theoretically giving you anywhere from 160GB to a whopping 750GB of hard drive space to complement whatever is available on your notebook. It connects via USB 2.0 and draws power from there as well, so there is no need to lug around another large power adapter whenever you travel. Nice to know that Hammer Storage has also made the morespace Portable to work with various protective skins to keep it free from scratches and damage from minor knocks and falls. There is no word on pricing, but you can check out the 160GB to 500GB models, although the 750GB model won’t be out until next January.

ITAMI FitTrainer helps you get in shape

Posted on 25 October 2008 by BabyReaps

Gave up on your New Year’s resolution to keep fit this year a long time ago? Well, perhaps you need some motivation to help you get back on track, and the ITAMI FitTrainer sounds like the perfect device to do so. This gizmo is actually the Sega Body Trainer as it is known in Japan, but has been rebranded as the ITAMI FitTrainer across the Pacific. This is a virtual electronic body trainer that you wear like a headset, telling you how you should exercise in order to achieve maximum results. It will rely on the Karvonen Method in order to determine your optimal “Training Heart Rate” (THR), and you can choose from a trio of exercise modes (walking, jogging and aerobics) to help you fight the flab. All you need to do is plug in your MP3 player and tune in to your favorite songs whenever you hit the treadmill and you’re good to go. There is no word on pricing or availability as at press time.

Interactive mirror gives ugly ducklings a boost

Posted on 25 October 2008 by BabyReaps

Women tend to spend more time on average in front of a mirror, although there are some men who do preen themselves equally as long. With the Interactive mirror, anyone who is narcissistic enough will definitely find a way to pick one up. This is but a two way mirror that is converted into a form of digital portal, and those familiar with LaserGames will know that this is an overhauled version in another way. Strangely enough, multi-touch capability has been left out, but I guess you can still use your creativity to make the most out of it. You won’t be making any digital masterpieces that will end up in a museum anytime soon, but at the very least it is way more interesting to use compared to a regular mirror that shows off all your flaws in real time in full glory.

Aerosystem audio system for your computer

Posted on 24 October 2008 by BabyReaps

With laptops outpacing desktops in terms of sales figures, it makes perfect sense that many people do treat their laptop as a portable entertainment center as well, although there is the iPod to help fill up this function. Laptops with larger screens make for a great movie viewing experience, but the same cannot be said for audio quality since most laptop speakers are pretty low on quality. Musician Jean-Michel Jarre aims to alleviate such aural suffering at the hands of most laptop manufacturers and have come up with his own pair of iPod speakers known as the Aerosystem. This futuristic looking audio system won’t come cheap though, retailing for $580 and is currently available in France. Not too sure if this is ever going to be released outside of France though.
