iPod Speaker Pillow

Posted on 07 May 2008 by BabyReaps

iPod speakers are often known to be hard products that won’t make for a very good place to rest your noggin’ during those slow Monday afternoons at the office, but the iPod speaker you see here take the road less traveled. It comes in yellow banana, red strawberry, green apple, and orange, er, orange “flavors”, and are dubbed the iPod Speaker Pillow. The whole range works with just about any generation of iPod, and is also compatible with other digital audio players as long as they function with a 3.5mm audio jack. A built-in speaker is located right in the middle, so you can forget about stereo sound with this. Great for short afternoon naps no matter where you are with a little bit of Mozart filtering through the speakers.

iWorld offers Stereo Boom Bags

Posted on 18 April 2008 by BabyReaps

If you have a penchant for all things retro, then the NGC Stereo Boom Bags from iWorld will definitely fit the bill. In addition to providing you with an instant time travel moment back to the 80s with old school designs, these bags feature integrated FM radio sets along with a pair of speakers to terrorize the rest of the folk sitting in the same train carriage as you. Alternatively, you can spare them the pains of Britney Spears by using the included 3.5mm jack. The sound quality definitely isn’t much to shout about, but it ought to be enough for a casual day out with friends and family. Choose from “Tape Deck” and “DJ Mixer” designs, where either one will retail for £18.99.

HOMADE MP3 i-Player

Posted on 15 April 2008 by BabyReaps

Everyone loves their LEGO - I have yet to meet a person who grew up with intense hatred for the collection of different colored bricks from Denmark. The HOMADE MP3 i-Player brings back memories of yore, looking like a traditional rectangle LEGO brick with a twist - it is actually an MP3 player. Each raised segment on the HOMADE MP3 i-Player is actually a button for you to control your music playback. Tipping the scales at a mere 26 grams, it is perfect to hang around your neck as you go about with your business. Audio is stored on a microSD memory card (up to 2GB), and the HOMADE MP3 i-Player will cost you $45.

Panasonic goes pink with RP-HTX7 headphones

Posted on 28 March 2008 by BabyReaps

Panasonic aims to appeal to pink loving crowds with its new RP-HTX7 headphones, featuring a faux leather headband while looking as though they’re relics from the early half of last century. One important aspect about headphones would be the comfort level, and it is a good thing that Panasonic has taken that into consideration by making the RP-HTX7 pretty comfy with all the necessary padding within, pumping out a response range from 7Hz to 22KHz which results in clear highs, powerful mids, and acceptable bass. They retail in the region of $60 each.

Onda VX767 looks stylish

Posted on 26 March 2008 by BabyReaps

It cannot be denied that Apple’s hardware is often imitated in terms of design, but never once is a third party hardware manufacturer actually come out with a device to knock the almighty iPod off its perch. The Onda VX767, however, is proof that these non-Apple manufacturers are making some progress towards that objective, featuring a form factor that is stunning at first glance, leading you to think that this might actually land a few jabs on the iPod touch in the ring itself. Some of the features found include :-

  • 4.3″ widescreen display with 16:9 aspect ratio and 480 x 272 resolution
  • Codec support for 3GP, ASF, AVI, FLV, MOV, MPG, MP4, RM, RMVB and WMV
  • FLAC, MP3, WAV and WMA audio support
  • Compatible with JPG, BMP, GIF and PNG picture formats
  • Integrated FM tuner with over 40 preset stations
  • microSDHC memory card slot
  • Microphone
  • TV output

Onda claims that the impressive VX767 has an audio playback time of 40 hours before it requires a trip to the nearest power outlet, while video playback is good for long haul flights at 10 hours. There is no word on pricing, but hopefully Onda will be merciful with our wallets and purses.

Eco-Speakers for earth lovers

Posted on 09 March 2008 by BabyReaps

Check out Fashionation’s Eco-Speakers that measure a mere 3.25″ in height, width and depth. These speakers are green in nature, so all you Greenpeace activists out there will be able to pick up a pair in peace. In addition to being tiny, they are also lightweight and follow Ikea’s flat packing principle, capable of being folded flat for extra portability. You will be able to choose from various colors and patterns, and best of all is you don’t have to lug around additional batteries since the Eco-Speakers will draw power from your portable media player. Sound quality isn’t all that great though, as one can expect from a speaker of such caliber. The Eco-Speakers are priced from $9.99 to $14.95, depending on where you pick it up.

MP3 Player Case

Posted on 27 February 2008 by BabyReaps

Here is yet another iPod case to join a gazillion others that have already been released to date. I think this is one of the most profitable lines of accessories ever, and this time the MP3 Player Case fits your iPod (and other MP3/PMPs as long as they are small enough to fit in) snugly within, boasting a variety of bright shades for you to choose from. Constructed from stainless steel hardware, you get an external headphone jack to listen to your player which is protected within, although you do lose the ability to control which song you want to listen to without opening up the MP3 Player Case. The included earphones are water resistant, but I guess this works only in a drizzle and is not meant for you to take it on your diving expeditions. The MP3 Player Case retails for $45 each.

SweetPea3 targets kids

Posted on 22 February 2008 by BabyReaps

Man, talk about starting them young…extremely young. I’m talking about MP3 players here - remember the good old days where you did not purchase your very own radio until you were working? Or how about Sony’s Walkman that became all the rage in the 1980s, with teens lapping it up at any retail store? Fast forward to today, and you get even babies who aren’t old enough to decide what they want to listen to receive an MP3 player in the form of the SweetPea3. It somehow reminds me of Popeye’s little kid, but I digress. There are no headphones or headphone jack with this, since it uses an external speaker instead. Targeting babies, this is definitely more durable than your iPod. Songs are transferred via USB, and the volume can only be controlled using a special button combination. A single AA battery powers it, although you can choose to let it run on AC power as well. The 256MB SweetPea3 retails for $89.95 a pop.
