Incipio Technologies has just released the Feather case for the iPod touch 2G, and this case clearly lives up to its name while offering adequate protection. Measuring less than 1mm thin, it won’t cramp your style thanks to its ultra light strong polymer, form-fitting exterior. Each Feather case lives up to its name, featuring a soft touch matte finish alongside 2 surface protectors and a cleaning cloth. In fact, the Feather for the iPod 2G is so thin that you can still use your portable media player with many other docks on the market. You will be able to choose from seven different colors with prices starting at $19.99.

Attack of the Pink iPod dock

December 9, 2008 by BabyReaps

While many people believe that pink is a color reserved mainly for the fairer sex, it still does appeal to certain segments of the male population as long as it comes in the right shade of pink. Well, this amazing Pink iPod Dock Pack by Scandyna might be your girl’s cup of tea, assuming she loves the color in the first place. For clueless guys, you can tell whether she likes pink or not by checking out the types of clothes she wears, the lipstick marks she leaves on your collar as well as the color of her most frequently carried handbag. You can’t just Google these things, you know? A keen eye is often required when it comes to gift giving. But I digress, the Pink iPod Dock comes with a 2 x 15 watt RMS Class T amplifier, a Kevlar bass/midrange driver, a soft dome tweeter, and seven inserts that is compatible with a range of iPod models. It won’t come cheap at $300 a pop, but you know the drill - if momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!

Dolby Volume to work with iPods

November 28, 2008 by BabyReaps
Filed under Blog, MP3 Players, iPod/iPhone

Dolby has been marketing its audio leveling system known as Dolby Volume for a fair amount of time already, and the company is also hard at work on a much smaller chip that would fit in perfectly with MP3 players. It is hoped that the optimized second generation version that will come in a much smaller form factor will also work with Apple’s range of iPods - it would be a pity (for financial and other reasons) for Dolby not to jump onto the iPod bandwagon, considering just how this diminutive portable media player has spread its influence far and wide across the hears. After all, who wouldn’t want Dolby technology that helps keep bass intact even when you wind down the sound?

Teddy bear notebook speakers

October 14, 2008 by BabyReaps
Filed under Accessories, MP3 Players, iPod/iPhone

Can’t think of a gift for your other half? Well, if she’s into all sorts of fluffy toys and laces, then this pair of teddy bear notebook speakers look as though they are enough to do the trick. The brown and white bear will house a speaker with a relatively weak 2W of power each, but then again these are not meant to blast heavy stuff like death metal or rock music, instead, it will do very nicely with ballads and instrumentals. Measuring 19cm x 15.5cm x 9cm and connected via USB, you don’t have to worry about batteries or carrying around another power adapter since it will draw juice directly from the USB port itself. Good thing this works with compatible portable media players thanks to a 3.5mm headphone jack. $22.99 is all Sourcing Map is asking for this pair of uber cute speakers.

Myvu Crystal, Personal Media Viewer

October 7, 2008 by Cat

Myvu’s personal media viewers come in several models and I was able to review the Crystal version recently.  I hooked it up to an iPod andmyvu-crystal.jpg watched a few videos while trying out the sound, too.  Then, I went to gaming and enjoyed playing a few rounds to test the viewer out.  Then, I hooked it to the television and set up a movie to see if the quality was good.

It worked a charm on the iPod while viewing videos that I had downloaded to it.  The television setup wasn’t as easy for me to figure out but I was able to find the correct wires and set the Myvu glasses up to the television.  The video was fine but when I did some gaming with the headset on the color was sacrificed some.  Not a big issue, as you probably would use this on the go and not at home.

I see this set working wonderfully for airports and flights, road trips, and the ocassional movie at home (if you live with others that don’t enjoy your movie choices, it’s perfect).  The set is light and I wish there was some way to minimize the number of wires needed, but once I got used to using them, all went well.

The Crystal model is available in black or amber and costs around $299 and can be found at Best Buy and other electronic stores.  They also offer refurbished viewers for the cost conscious!

Sony release new iPod/iPhone docks

September 21, 2008 by BabyReaps

Sony is on a roll with its trio of iPod/iPhone docks in the form of the boom box ZS-S4iP, the tabletop HD radio XDR-S10HDiP and the fancy looking SRS-GU10iP that will definitely get people talking the moment they lay their eyes on it. The ZS-S4iP boombox offers a Mega Bass Sound System, bringing me back to the good old days where Walkman models used cassettes as media instead of flash memory cards, and those with the words “Mega Bass” printed on the exterior added bragging rights for the owner. It also doubles up as an iPod/iPhone charger and comes with a wireless remote control. As for the XDR-S10HDiP, this is Sony’s maiden attempt at HD Radio with iTunes Tagging which works with even the iPhone 3G and the latest iPods. It offers rich bass and simulated surround sound, also functioning as a charger. Do you still listen to the radio these days, or are you happy with your collection of MP3s? Last but not least is the SRS-GU10iP docking speaker that touts to bring high quality audio and a piano black wood finish for sophisticated types. You will be able to pick up the ZS-S4iP boombox this October for $100 with a choice of black and white colors, while the XDR-S10HDiP HD table radio will retail for approximately $180. As for the SRS-GU10iP, this iPhone/iPod docking speaker can be yours for around $150.

Earphones are definitely useful if you want to listen to your collection of music without any outside interference, but anyone who wears them for long periods of time can attest that they aren’t too comfortable in the long run. Thanko aims to solve this problem with their Magnetic Earphones, featuring a soft magnetic foldable strip that is attached to the ear lobe while the earphone is directly placed in front of the ear’s auricle external acoustic meatus. Hello Kitty Action DJ Speaker

September 7, 2008 by BabyReaps

Hello Kitty’s all over the place - her mug has been used in just about any and every device imaginable to date, and this time round she comes in something slightly different but no less attractive - the Hello Kitty Action DJ Speaker. Word from ThinkGeek below.

Hello Kitty in a DJ booth with a speaker in the base is a pretty cool juxtaposition of dance music and Kitty. She even bops her head back and forth with the music. Plug in your iPod or similar music playing device and observe the cuteness for yourself. If you’re really looking to give in and completely “cute out” we recommend the pink version. Hey, we won’t judge you… we’re already there ourselves.

She will set you back by $24.99 this time round.
