Hello Kitty fans, take note!

Posted on 09 May 2008 by BabyReaps

So you’ve just gotten mom a spanking new digital camera, and she absolutely loves snapping so many photos, you start to wonder whether the camera itself is at risk of being scratched or dropped since it sees so much use. Why not get both of you some peace of mind at the same time surprise mom with a simple Mother’s Day gift with this Hello Kitty digita camera pouch? Hakubaphoto has a trio of camera pouch designs, and all of them feature a similar design albeit different color schemes to suit your mom’s taste. Each pouch measures 94mm x 25mm x 64mm and weighs 60 grams, which means only compact consumer digital cameras will be able to fit in without too much of a problem. Larger sized semi-professional digital cameras are out of the question, so let’s not even go into dSLR territory.

Aquapac Waterproof Camera Case

Posted on 24 April 2008 by BabyReaps

Even regular point-and-shoot digital cameras deserve protection against the elements whenever you go out for a holiday. Take the Aquapac Waterproof Camera Case for example - it is perfect for beginners as well as intermediate shutterbugs who want to explore more than just land, and wouldn’t mind taking a dip into the deep abyss for a refreshing change in environment and subjects.

Designed to protect a compact, point-and-shoot digital camera, the Aquapac Waterproof Camera Case lets you take pictures with your camera still inside. Now you can use your camera without worry in wet weather, blowing sand or a while taking a dip in the pool.

It will retail for $29.95. Not too sure whether the plastic case will interfere with the image quality though - it does not look 100% transparent.

HP Elite Webcam

Posted on 31 March 2008 by BabyReaps

This webcam from HP looks more like a techno organic lifeform than your standard webcam, with the feeling of having it transform suddenly when you’re not looking only to scurry away into another corner of your office while conversing with other office gizmos. HP’s Elite webcam brings a whopping 3 megapixel resolution for live feeds, and is more than capable of snapping 12 megapixel images where still shots are concerned. It will feature autofocus, a stereo microphone, and an “Instant Chat” button. I wouldn’t really want to use this webcam since it will broadcast my pimply face to all and sundry, but if you have flawless complexion like those Botox-filled A-list folk at Hollywood, then the HP Elite Webcam sounds like just the webcam for you.

Digix i90 camera does more than shoot pictures

Posted on 13 March 2008 by BabyReaps

The Picto DigiArt i90 digital camera is different from most of the rest of digital cameras in the market at the moment, as it also doubles up as a portable media player of sorts, featuring integrated MP3 playback capability for you to enjoy your beloved singer no matter where you are. Other features include a 7 megapixel CMOS sensor with 3x optical zoom, video capture capability (MPEG-4 resolution at 30 fps), a 3″ LCD display, face recognition and anti-shake technology for crystal clear photos even if your hand is suffering from a bad case of the shakes. An SD memory card slot is available for memory expansion purposes. The DigiArt i90 digital camera retails for approximately $185 in Korea at the moment, with no word on an European or Stateside release.Source: Reg Hardware

HSGi hugs your cameras with silicon covers

Posted on 29 February 2008 by BabyReaps

We all know that DSLRs are extremely expensive, which is why there are a fair bit of protective cases offered for such devices. What about your average consumer digital camera? I hardly see any rugged casing provided in the market, and those leather pouches don’t do nuts against a nasty drop onto the concrete floor. Unless you’re rocking to Olympus’ tough range of consumer level digital cameras, other brands do not fare too well when they say hello to knocks. The HSGi silicon cover is made from translucent, non-toxic, flexible, and durable silicone, featuring a petal-shaped lens cover that gives complete protection to the lens when not in use, just like a lens cap. It might not do too much against a nasty, fall, but at least it offers an anti-static finish that repels dust, moisture, scratches and dents. Choose from black, white and pink colors for $16 a pop. It is compatible with selected Canon and Panasonic models.

Smaller, Lighter. Video!

Posted on 17 December 2007 by Cat

Sanyo is known for leading the way in technologies that are fun and lend a hand at keeping family memories.  I’ve seen many digital cameras but the specs. of this model really impress me.

The Sanyo Xacti HD1000 weighs a light 9.5 oz. and is only around 16.6 cu. in. so this model really will be a smaller and lighter version of what you have seen.  Not only that, but Sanyo also packed it full of good features like the high-speed image processing engine (for full HD data), ergonomic design, low power consumption and a great 2.7″ display to view your video as you shoot it.

It also will take 4-megapixel still images in digital for those snapshot moments.  Visit Sanyo for more details and check note the image stabilization and manual control options for you semi-pro movie makers out there.

Eye-Fi Makes Picture Taking a SNAP

Posted on 03 December 2007 by Cat

Instead of waiting for log-in screens, messing with cables or cradles, you want to have the freedom to post your photos quickly and easily!  The new Eye-Fi card will give you such freedom you’ll pack up all the wires and cradles and work directly through your Wi-Fi connection.

This card sends your photos to your computer through the network and saves them into the folder you choose.  Your computer must be on and running the software, but how easy is that to set up ahead of time?  No need to publish them directly, you can have them save in the folder until you’re ready to release them or just archive them for your own keeping.

Or, you can opt for the online publishing through your favorite site.  Here’s what the Eye-Fi main site says about this:

Behind the scenes, the Eye-Fi Service intelligently handles your
photos, getting them to your chosen site, taking care of log-ins and
passwords, even re-sizing pictures if your destination requires it.
It’s secure and private, and photo uploads are free and unlimited with
your Eye-Fi Card.

Or you can choose to do both, archive them in your home system AND publish them to your favorite site.  A great gift idea for your photo-loving friends.

Stainless Steel, But Still Light

Posted on 27 November 2007 by Cat

The Micro Stainless Steel Digital Camcorder might be something you should purchase before the holiday times hit.  It’s light and easy to use for those quick moments in time you wished you had your camcorder handy.  How many times have I said, "If I only had my video camera right now…"

5.4 Mega pixel photos and DVD quality videos are captured as you view your creations on the hi-res 2.5" display.  With a built in flash and 8X digital zoom, you can catch some close up shots, too.

This baby has a USB port to make converting and transferring your videos easy, with included software so that you can play them back on your iPod, PSP or cell.  The camera has 64MB internal storage and supports up to 4GB SD cards, which will store your videos for you.
