HP Pavilion dv2800t Artist Edition notebook series

Posted on 04 March 2008 by BabyReaps

designerhp.jpg Why settle for a standard looking notebook that won’t even turn heads when you whip it out of the notebook bag? Enter the HP Pavilion dv2800t Artist Edition notebook series that features a design “created by young people, for young people”, with the inclusion of the latest Intel Centrino mobile technology for all your computing needs. What you see on the exterior is the winning design in Global Design Competition created by HP and MTV, along with a wallpaper that mirrors the image in order for you to see it even when the notebook is closed. Each purchase will not come empty handed, featuring a matching art design messenger bag. What are some of the technical specifications you can expect from this? How about a 14.1? widescreen display, an Intel Core 2 Duo “Penryn” 45nm processor, a reasonably fast NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS 128MB video card, a maximum of 4GB RAM and 250GB hard drive?

Golden Age MacBook Air

Posted on 04 March 2008 by BabyReaps

While the MacBook Air is a relatively new release, it has already been given the bling treatment thanks to Bling My Thing. Here we have the Golden Age creation that was unveiled at CeBIT 2008, featuring a MacBook Air decked out in a whopping 12,000 Swarovski crystals, and these crystals look more shiny than normal due to the fact that a coat of 24k gold has been applied right under each crystal. It takes approximately one week of man hours to construct each individual Golden Age, since every crystal is lovingly hand-applied, leading up to the ultimate masterpiece. Only 20 of such MacBook Airs exist, and one of them is already available for sale at Selfridges, Oxford Street come March 18th. The price to pay? A wallet bleeding £20,000. I don’t think you would want to take the chance to change the battery on this…

Razer Piranha Gaming Headset

Posted on 04 March 2008 by Cat

As a gamer, I look for good sound in a headset, and the Razer Piranha has that perfected.  With noise-filtering for the microphone, your teammates or gaming pals won’t miss a word you say.  Comfort is first with Razer, too.  Ergonomic designs are a focus for this company and these Piranha headphones happen to have adjustable earphones to help with every movement you make and keep your long hours of gaming less about your comfort and more about your enjoyment.

Another plus for Razer is the cable, they took extra time to ensure it’s durability by covering it with a braided fiber.  I had no problem just plugging it in and using it, either.  No annoying wait to set it up.

Not only are they awesome to use for the excellent sound and quality but they also have added ‘gadget addict’ features like the lovely blue icon on the sides and blue lighting on the control that’s attached to the cord.  If you’re into case mods. or just like to show off your favorite brand, Razer has your number.  Shop their site and keep watching for new items.  They keep adding more things for me to drool over.

I love their company motto, too:  “For gamers, by gamers.”  Who better to design my stuff but someone that has something in common with me?  They have a new mouse coming, too, and I hope to feature the Salmosa here as soon as I get more details.

DORmino mouse loves the heat

Posted on 03 March 2008 by BabyReaps

Everyone knows that a laptop emits a whole lot of heat, and most of the time it is recommended to be used with a laptop cooler. The DORmino mouse takes a different approach and embraces heat instead, as it uses the wasted heat to power the wireless mouse thanks to silicon nanowires that have been embedded within the pad that sits right under your laptop. The thermoelectric converter, coupled with an induction coil located right inside the mouse is used to transfer power up from the pad. The mouse itself comes with a touchscreen scroller and Bluetooth connectivity, while the pad can be rolled up for easy portability.

SanDisk Cruzer Fleur

Posted on 02 March 2008 by BabyReaps

SanDisk aims to hit a chord with the female segment of the market with its new Cruzer Fleur line of USB flash drives. This pink color USB flash drive fits perfectly as a necklace accessory, and there won’t be any worries about losing the protective cap since the USB connector itself is retractable. If you have a penchant for flowery motifs and the color pink, then this 8GB USB flash drive will definitely be a choice candidate at $80 a pop. Of course, for those who do not have that kind of extra money to splurge on can always settle for the smaller capacity 2GB and 4GB models.

Toy Quest Touch Table

Posted on 25 February 2008 by BabyReaps

While Microsoft’s Windows operating system is pretty convoluted and tend to bring more agony than joy with its famous Blue Screen of Death, they seem to be doing pretty OK when it comes to kids’ toys. Take the Toy Quest Touch Table for example - this nifty little plaything is a 21″ touch screen monitor, enabling kids to play games on it in addition to other educational features such as accessing Google Earth to learn more about geography. The Toy Quest Touch Table also features a photo viewer, DVD playback and MP3 support. Will you drop $499 for this or prefer to get a heavy set of encyclopedias instead?

MSI PR200 Beloved Edition

Posted on 19 February 2008 by BabyReaps

Now now, isn’t this one of the prettier notebooks that you’ve laid your eyes upon in a long while? Sure, it might not come with the super slim form factor that made everyone gush over the MacBook Air, but at least MSI’s efforts with the 12.1″ slim PR200 Beloved Edition comes with an optical drive. Developed by MSI for White Day in Korea, the PR200 Beloved Edition is no slouch when it comes to performance, featuring Intel’s 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor that is more than enough for your everyday office tasks. Other features include a built-in 1.3 megapixel camera and an HDMI port for those who want to watch high definition shows.

Zune Phone direction clearer

Posted on 17 February 2008 by BabyReaps

While rumors of a Zune phone has been circulating since time immemorial (feels like it anyway), a corporate reorganization certainly points toward that way - just check out this mockup of a smartphone UI which made an appearance in a June 2006 Microsoft patent filing. Perhaps the acquisition of Danger will steer Microsoft towards developing a full touch screen user interface instead of plodding on with their Windows Mobile platform? Granted, Windows Mobile ain’t all that bad but when you compare it to Apple’s UI, the latter wins hands down. All I can say is this - more choices and healthy competition is always good for the consumer. Go Microsoft!zune-phone.jpg

Mobile Edge vertical messenger bag

Posted on 11 February 2008 by BabyReaps

Looks like Valentine’s Day will be greeted by Mobile Edge just in time with their new ladies vertical messenger bag known as the CuteBug Hipster. Authentic pulp icon images from the 1940s and 50s were used on the bag, along with a pair of “Lucky Seven” dice to up the style ante. Those who love vintage images on their products will definitely like the CuteBug Hipster, helping ladies stand out from the crowd and turning the tide against boring and repetitive designs. The pink Hipster model will retail for $69.99 each and is readily available while Black with Yellow trim and Green with Yellow trim colors will be rolled out later this spring.
