No idea whether our brave men and women on the battlefield will be carrying important data on a portable hard drive to war, but that hasn’t stopped Iomega from coming up with the eGo Camo portable hard drive. This USB-powered storage device holds up to 250GB of storage space, featuring a black Iomega potential Grip band that comes in handy to help retain your grip on it, even if your palms sweat buckets naturally. The eGo Camo also boasts similar shock protection technology as found on the standard eGo model, so you can be sure that a short drop to the floor from the table won’t cause any loss of data. The eGo Camo is completed with a woodland camouflage pattern to help you transfer data discreetly in the urban jungle. Hopefully your desk will share a similar pattern, lest your eGo Camo stands out instead of remaining unnoticed in the background. It will retail for $149.95.

I know that times are hard with oil surpassing the $120 mark per barrel, and that the economy back home is in tatters, so people everywhere will find just about any excuse that they can in order to save money. For those who tend to be rather clumsy around the work station will definitely have experienced a spill over a notebook keyboard before, and that experience is definitely one to be forgotten. This waterproof “Ziploc”-like bag is a cheap alternative compared to those expensive ToughBooks from Panasonic, and it will be available in either A4 or B5 sizes depending on the size of your budget notebook. I’m making a fair bit of assumptions in this post, but you can pick this up for €13 in Japan.

Planex has a brand new network attached storage device known as the MZK-NAS02SG1T. Having one of these makes it easy to sway even the most staunch supporter of original software, music and movies. After all, with 1TB of storage space, it makes the $524 price point extremely appealing considering you will be able to take advantage of its DigiJuke browser that can be used for searching and tagging BitTorrent and YouTube content which you want downloaded. Not only that, downloaded content can be chosen to be encoded in the relevant format for the PSP, iPod, Wii, or even regular TV for in-home or on-the-go viewing. Heck, this Planex NAS can also stream audio and video to iTunes laptops or desktops, DLNA TV, Xbox 360, or other compatible device at home. Are you raring to own one already?

LaCie gets tough with a new 500GB rugged external hard drive. This unique hard drive looks tempting enough to throw against a wall just to see if it lives up to its name, featuring a bright orange shock-resistant rubber bumper as well as scratch-proof aluminum shell to help keep your precious data stored within safe and sound. Seated inside lies a Hitachi 2.5″ Travelstar 5K500 hard drive. There will be two versions released - one with a standard USB 2.0 port, while the other will not only carry the aforementioned USB 2.0 port but boasts FireWire 400 and 800 connectivity as well, reaching a maximum data transfer speed of up to 800Mbits/s (theoretically speaking, of course). The former model will retail for $339.99 while the latter is going for $399.99.

I know everyone is gunning for Olympic gold this year in Beijing, but what about those of us who are too poor to afford a ticket there and see all the ceremonies and favorite track event? Well, console yourself with a little bit of bling on your desk with the Zip-Ang handmade gold keyboard. Before you start sweating beads, let me assure you that being handmade doesn’t necessarily mean expensive, as evident by the $214.21 price tag attached to this handmade gold keyboard. It isn’t made completely of solid gold (hence the price), but being covered with Midas’ favorite substance is more than enough for bragging rights. Should you detest gold, there are always other friendlier colors to choose from, including pink, yellow, and red.

Samsung has just released the SPH-P9200 UMPC in Korea, bridging both form and function into a single device that is bound to get your pulse racing. It boasts a foldable keyboard which can be revealed whenever you need to type an email or text message, and can be tucked away, folded when not in use. Other features include a 5″ touch screen display at 800 x 480 resolution, a VIA C7-M 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, and a 30GB hard drive for you to store all your dirty little secrets. There are various ways to get connected to the Internet with the SPH-P9200 - via WiFi, HSDPA and WiBRO. To cap it all off, you will also get a 1.3 megapixel camera, an optical joystick and a port replicator with each purchase. I wonder how much this will cost.

This webcam from HP looks more like a techno organic lifeform than your standard webcam, with the feeling of having it transform suddenly when you’re not looking only to scurry away into another corner of your office while conversing with other office gizmos. HP’s Elite webcam brings a whopping 3 megapixel resolution for live feeds, and is more than capable of snapping 12 megapixel images where still shots are concerned. It will feature autofocus, a stereo microphone, and an “Instant Chat” button. I wouldn’t really want to use this webcam since it will broadcast my pimply face to all and sundry, but if you have flawless complexion like those Botox-filled A-list folk at Hollywood, then the HP Elite Webcam sounds like just the webcam for you.

Now here’s a small device that is powered by either Windows XP or Windows CE, allowing you to get basic computing jobs done just about wherever you are while functioning as the all important cell phone. Some of the features include the following :-
This little onder measures 160mm x 65mm x 25mm and tips the scales at a rather hefty 385 grams - definitely not something your pocket will welcome as it fits into a bag much better. Koreans will be able to get their hands on the Miu HDPC this July, as it retails between $400 and $500 after conversion, depending on the system specifications.
