K-Touch C700 cell phone

Posted on 23 May 2008 by BabyReaps

Cell phones from China rarely make for a notable release, but the K-Touch C700 is definitely noteworthy since it comes with a stunning 7 megapixel camera - this is in stark contrast with the iPhone’s mere 2 megapixel shooter, but how does the rest of the handset fare? The C700 also features 3x optical zoom, 5x digital zoom, auto focus, image stabilization, xenon flash and ISO sensitivity of up to 1000, placing it alongside the most basic point-and-shoot digital cameras. Other than snapping high resolution images, the C700 is also a dual-band GSM cell phone with a 2.8″ 260k color LCD touch screen display, Bluetooth connectivity, an integrated FM tuner, audiop and video playback, and anti-theft trace and privacy protection functionalities. The price to pay for the C700? Approximately $390.

Christian Dior phone a reality

Posted on 21 May 2008 by BabyReaps

Guess those Christian Dior cell phone rumors aren’t just hearsay and a case of wagging tongues - the fashion house itself has announced that it will be rolling out an entirely new line of cell phones in order to expand its horizons by going past the traditional fashion business in order to boost sales. Boosting sales in a time where the economic crunch is hitting everyone hard is a noble idea, but I don’t think you would actually sell that many handsets to make a difference to your bottom line if you’re going to price it anywhere from €3,500 and above, depending on the amount of luxurious items such as diamonds you decide to add onto it. Will you be picking up a Christian Dior branded phone, or be more than content with your 3G iPhone?

Christian Dior to release cell phone?

Posted on 16 May 2008 by BabyReaps

Word on the (high fashion) street has it that Christian Dior, the French high-fashion clothing retailer, will be releasing their own branded handset sometime this week. Apparently this potentially glamorous handset will be on sale in most Dior shops within a fortnight after its unveiling. Speaking from a technological point of view, it is a bonus if the handset looks and works nice, but what’s more important are the features within that blend seamlessly with one another, working without a fault. Just like a long lasting and loving marriage, beauty is but skin deep, so hopefully Christian Dior won’t screw up on this one. One thing’s confirmed though - it will come with a fair number of Swarovski crystals adorning the handset.

Nokia concepts from Provoke

Posted on 13 May 2008 by BabyReaps

Design firm Provoke certainly lives up to its name with a new bunch of Nokia concepts known as Express, Feel and Share. These designs will be showcased at this year’s New York Design Week, so it would be great to make your way down there if you’re interested to see the real thing in the flesh. The Express enables you to customize the user interface - hmm, nothing new here, but apparently the form factor is definitely dazzling (good or bad, I leave that to you as fashion taste is always subjective). As for the Feel, users will be able to send tactile simulated touch messages literally - I wonder just how that will work when it comes to sexual harassment suits? Last but not least, we have the Share concept that brings together Twitter as well as Myspace for “like minded” individuals.

Motorola V9 Ferrari Edition

Posted on 11 May 2008 by BabyReaps

Fans of the prancing horse will be able to snag their hands on yet another piece of Ferrari-related tech - this time in the form of a blissfully delicious Motorola V9 Ferrari edition. While Motorola’s range of phones are suffering from RAZR fatigue - a term used to describe an over reliance on the original RAZR’s design, making it harder for Motorola to outdo itself in that aspect, placing a Ferrari logo and splashing it with red paint won’t exactly turn the beleaguered company around, would it? What makes this model different from the vanilla V9 would be the inclusion of Ferrari inspired grand prix panels, an overall Ferrari theme and a nice leather case that shamelessly displays the Scuderia Ferrari logo on it. I wonder how much of a premium this puppy would cost. Pretty hot stuff this. Meanwhile, the phone’s other features remain bog standard to the normal V9 Razr version but that in my opinion will not detract Ferrari buffs from going out painting the town red with the red and sexy Motorola-Ferrari V9.

Verizon Wireless pampers mom

Posted on 09 May 2008 by BabyReaps

So mom has been hankering after you for a cell phone for the longest time now, so what better way to show your love to her than with a spanking new handset from Verizon Wireless? If you happen to have a mom who is fashion-forward, perhaps you can consider the recently released Samsung Glyde or the LG Vehus, where both of them offer some form of touch navigation in addition to support for Verizon Wireless’ multimedia services, including V CAST Video and V CAST Music to keep mom entertained even as she gets her hair done.

  • 528MHz Qualcomm processor
  • 3.2 megapixel camera
  • Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity

Buddha Cell Phone

Posted on 03 May 2008 by BabyReaps

Now isn’t this one of the weirder cell phones you have come across? The Buddha cell phone definitely does away with Buddha’s Middle Path where design and appearance is concerned, but it somehow managed to incorporate Buddhist aesthetics ranging from the startup screen to ringtones, making this handset rather ironical to use. Some folks might find this to be vaguely familiar, and they are right as this is actually a highly customized Nokia N70 which features a steel base and 24-carat gold plating, a jade button for video and a jewel encrusted camera. Other more standard features comprise of Bluetooth connectivity, video and audio playback, and handwriting recognition to cater to folks from the East. No idea how much this costs, but I think Buddha himself will frown on such opulence for a handset, what more one that is released with connotations of the Enlightened One himself.

Goldstriker…strikes again

Posted on 22 April 2008 by BabyReaps

Goldstriker is a name synonymous with luxury, and this time round they have done yet another number on the iPhone. You won’t find this iPhone model studded with diamonds though, as Goldstriker decided to just give it a gold heavy treatment, calling it the Black Night Edition. Both the front bezel and Apple logo located on the back of the iPhone will be covered in precious 24 carat gold, and the paint job given is the same paint that is used in the Bentley diamond black metallic range for an added touch of luxury. You will have to dig relatively deep for this, as the 16GB 1.1.4 model will retail for £699.95.

Tag Heuer Meridiist cell phone

Posted on 21 April 2008 by BabyReaps

Tag Heuer is synonymous with watches, but it doesn’t want to be left out of the luxury cell phone segment as well. After all, the Vertu features extremely insane prices, and yet there is enough market for it to sustain sales at swanky boutiques across the world, so why can Tag Heuer do the same? You won’t find diamond-studded handsets here, but it does look solid and luxurious enough to warrant a four-digit price tag. Co-developed with Modelabs, the Meridiist comes in an all-metal casing, complete with a sapphire crystal screen, a 2-megapixel camera, multimedia playback capability, a 1.9″ QVGA display, Bluetooth connectivity and a battery life that supports up to 7 hours of talk time. Pricing ranges from €3,400 to €3,900, depending on the customizations you decide to throw in. Anyone lusting after the Meridiist this second quarter?
