Valentine Tokidoki Mimobot Invasion

I absolutely have an obsession with everything Tokidoki, so I was pleased to see Mimoco is introducing another adorable USB flash drive covered in pop-fashion from tokidoki. Her name is Pink Meletta and she is loaded with tokidoki wallpapers, icons, and other col stuff. It can hold up to 8GB of stuff, and it starts at $25. Ok, so this is not the most romantic gift for V-day, but I’m sure your sweetheart wouldn’t mind having one either. Here’s more about Meletta from the site:
Meletta is in LOVE! Someone snuck past that monkey on her head and gave her a kiss, and now she’s blushing pink and black! Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Pink Meletta is a techie gift that will satisfy your inner geek while not getting you stuck on the couch Valentine’s night.
A word of warning - do NOT ask Meletta how she got that monkey on her head, or where the monkey got that banana, because she doesn’t know and, quite frankly, it’s ticking her off right now. Meletta is a constant reminder to eat your fruits before they eat you - or before that monkey on your back gets hold of them.
Designed by Simone Legno, the rock-star artist behind the tokidoki brand, Meletta and the tokidoki for MIMOBOT collection launched at New York Comic Con on April 18th. Pick one up now to get one of the limited run of this exciting new MIMOBOT series.

Attack of the Pink iPod dock
December 9, 2008 by BabyReaps

While many people believe that pink is a color reserved mainly for the fairer sex, it still does appeal to certain segments of the male population as long as it comes in the right shade of pink. Well, this amazing Pink iPod Dock Pack by Scandyna might be your girl’s cup of tea, assuming she loves the color in the first place. For clueless guys, you can tell whether she likes pink or not by checking out the types of clothes she wears, the lipstick marks she leaves on your collar as well as the color of her most frequently carried handbag. You can’t just Google these things, you know? A keen eye is often required when it comes to gift giving. But I digress, the Pink iPod Dock comes with a 2 x 15 watt RMS Class T amplifier, a Kevlar bass/midrange driver, a soft dome tweeter, and seven inserts that is compatible with a range of iPod models. It won’t come cheap at $300 a pop, but you know the drill - if momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!

Road Mice for hubby this Christmas
November 23, 2008 by BabyReaps
Is your man sick and tired of receiving ties for Christmas and other special occasions? Why not surprise him with something totally different this time round, thanks to the range of optical mice known as Road Mice? This innovative wireless optical car shaped computer mouse uses officially licensed designs by popular auto manufacturers of today, including Corvettes, Camaros and Ford Mustangs. Well, you know that Detroit could do with a whole lot more sales considering the current economic state they’re in, so hopefully these mice purchases will soon translate into actual car purchases over time. Each Road Mouse is wireless, featuring a USB receiver and 800-dpi resolution which ought to be more than enough for regular office use, although we wouldn’t recommend this for serious gaming purposes since it isn’t quite cut out for that. Each Road Mouse retails for $44.95 and comes with an individual (VIN) serial number.

Plantronics Discovery 925

An amazing Bluetooth headset arrived at my door the other day and I’ve had the pleasure to test out the features this past week. The Plantronics Discovery 925 has had quite a bit of good press lately so I was excited to be able to review one myself. When it arrived I went pretty easy on it, charging it up as the directions stated, and taking time to read the brief but precise directions. That didn’t last long because I wanted to really put it to the test during my work week.
Opening the package revealed not only the VFrame design, that is impressive alone, but also a new feature I haven’t been exposed to yet with headsets–a carrying case with a battery for charging on the run. Recharging can be done either directly via the headset and an AC plug or by placing the fancy headset into the case (which holds the Discovery 925 with a firm grip, no charging mistakes there) and plugging the AC into the bottom of that. Then, later in the day when you are not using your headset, you can place it directly into the charged up case and recharge it between meetings or travels.
Plantronics has an AudioIQ noise control technology that passed my “convertible” test well. I drive home from work with the top down on my car and I made several calls while both on side streets and on the highway (windows up, of course) and I had no problem hearing or conversing with the other party. Impressive! I can’t say they couldn’t hear road noise, but the conversation wasn’t halted because of it.
The setup with my Blackjack II was painless and quick, and the battery life has been incredible with the extended feature of the charging case. Plantronics says that 5 hours of talk time can be enjoyed and 7 days standby, but add in the case charging time and I think that gets automatically extended.
Three sizes of eartips are shipped with the headset but I used the one it came with and haven’t had an issue with it falling out of my ear or moving. I had previously insisted all my headsets have an over-the-ear design, but this product has converted me. Light (so light I forget I am wearing it constantly) and easy to keep safe and charged up, this would make an excellent gift for business or pleasure seekers.
It tops my list of Bluetooth headsets that I recommend to others, for sure. I think I’ve used the L-word a few times, too. Shh!

Yubz Talk Retro Handset
November 9, 2008 by BabyReaps
Filed under Accessories, Cell Phones, Computers
We sure have come a long way since the days of the old school home telephone, but with the advent of cell phones, many of us have already ditched our land lines in favor of these smaller and sleek looking handsets. Well, we too, do know that fashion styles come and go in time, with retro being considered cool from time to time. I’m not sure if the Yubz Talk Retro Handset qualifies though, since it might be retro but it sure as heck is impractical. This is but a handset that connects to your cell phone, allowing you to hold conversations through it - which is pretty pointless, actually. I guess it is much better suited being connected to a computer instead, where you will be able to carry out Skype conversations in old school style. It will retail for $50 to bring one home.

Countact Lens Case does the counting for you
November 8, 2008 by BabyReaps
Are you one of the many people who wear contact lenses? If you are, chances are there must have been at least one time when you have forgotten exactly how long it has been since you replaced the pair of contacts that you’re currently wearing. This isn’t good, since deposits that build up inside isn’t good for your eyes, and yet keeping track of just how many days have passed since you last changed a pair can be quite a chore. With the Countact Lens Case, all this headache is solved. In the middle of the case lies a backlit LCD display that shows exactly how many days have passed since your current pair of contacts has been worn. Once the expiry date arrived, it will automatically beep to alert you. Pretty nifty device to own for just $34, eh?

Tokyoflash Jackpot watch tells time, not dispenses money
October 29, 2008 by BabyReaps

Tokyoflash watches, even though many of them require a rocket scientist to decipher the current time, are still appealing in their own right just because they are so damn hard to read. In addition, they’re beautifully designed (most of the time anyways) that always pushes the envelope when it comes to innovation, and today we have yet another Tokyoflash offering from ThinkGeek - the Jackpot watch. Judging by its name alone, you can tell that this timepiece will tell the time just like how a slot machine does, with wild spinning numbers going out of their way before the settle on the current hour and minute. This means you can’t tell the time at a glance, but will instead need to press a button, input the bet amount and hit another button to spin the digits. The Tokyoflash Jackpot watch will retail for $100 a pop.
