Answer & Win: Who’s the Sexiest Geek?

Posted on 23 March 2007 by Techie Diva

The cool ladies over at GeekSugar sent a Q & A my way last week (turns out I’m a Geeky Girl They Heart), asking me a fun questions about hobbies, gadget luxuries in life, and the top sexiest male and female geeks (one of my picks was Jason Chen for sticking gadgets down his pants). I had a lot of fun answering it, just like I did with Born Rich’s interview, so now I’d like to interview you, the readers.

I’d love to know who do you think is the world’s Sexiest Geek of all time and why? Best answer wins a $50 gift certificate from the store of their choice. Submit your nominations below, and may the best geek win. Our editors will pick a winner next Friday. Good Luck!

Update: And the winner is…LEAH. Our editors felt her response about Chief Geek Robert Stephens was great. What’s sexier than a good boss who care about his employees?

Robert Stephens. The Founder and Chief Inspector of Geek Squad.  He makes technology fun and really cares about his employees.  He makes working for the Geek Squad feel like being a part of a family instead of a huge company. I’ve never met him, but there are plenty of videos/pictures online of this man and I can tell he is intelligent, passionate, funny and adorable. He definately gets my vote!!!

Cool Geek? Who Me?

Posted on 21 March 2007 by Techie Diva

GinaI would never consider myself a Cool Geek of any week, but the lovely gals over at Born Rich bestowed the honor on me this week, and I was pretty damn honored. Check out the interview, and the "Rapid Fire" question round. I admit, the "Better Date" question was hard because I’m a Russell Crowe fan, but I think Bill Gates would be a more interesting lunch date. If you’re up for it, I’d like to see how you would answer the following questions (borrowed from Born Rich) in 3 words or less:

a. Your favorite vacation spot/holiday?

b. Apple iPhone (thumbs-up or thumbs-down)

c. Google or Yahoo

d. Engadget or Gizmodo

e. Pink Razr or Blackberry

f. One thing you hate about Mac

g. One thing you love about Windows

h. What will you like to be remembered as Gina or Techie-Diva (woops)

h. How would you like to be remembered

i. Gilmore Girls, Desperate Housewives, or Sex in the City

j. XBox 360, Wii or PS3

k. Digg or Netscape

l. Better date: Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or Russell Crowe

m. Three words you would like to be engraved on your tombstone

Gadgets are a Girl’s Best Friend

Posted on 04 August 2006 by Techie Diva

71253513 True or False? You visit electronic stores more often than shopping malls.

If you think this statement is somewhat true, you’re not alone. USA Today investigates the results of an Oxygen Network survey that indicates more women would choose electronics, such as iPods, TVs, or cell phones, over silly things like diamond necklaces or designer shoes. Not only do girls want their high-tech toys, but they want the top-of-the-line models.

The survey aimed to compared tech attitudes between men and women, so they interviewed over 1,400 women and 700 men, ages 15-49. Findings suggest that advertisers need to address a broader audience, and not talk down to women. Continue Reading Story

You Go, Girl Gadgeteer

Posted on 10 July 2006 by Techie Diva

Cnet Lesslie Katz and Erica Ogg from CNet wrote a story on "You go, Girl Gadgeteer". Thanks for the mention CNet!

According to the article: "Out of $107.2 billion spent on consumer-electronics technology in 2005, men accounted for 54 percent, or $57.9 billion worth, of those purchases, and women took care of 46 percent, or $49.3 billion, according to market research firm The NPD Group. That’s an 18 percent increase in spending by females compared with the previous year, when women rang up $41.9 billion in gadget purchases. Men spent about the same amount in 2004 as they did in 2005." Wow! I believe this because I spend more money on gadgets than clothes, purses, makeup or other girly stuff these days, as compared to my spending habits before 2005.

Quick Poll: What gadgets do you carry around in your purse?  Like I told Leslie, I have a Treo 650 (and a RAZR), bluetooth headset, a Sony DSC-T30 (for videoblogging), an iPod nano (and video), and an iPod Belkin microphone (to record memos).  Sometimes I carry my Nintendo DS Lite, but I hate weighing down the purse. So what’s in your "wallet"?
