HRP-4C: First Fashion Modelbot

The model of the future is looking a little stiff these days, but that didn’t stop HRP-4C from making her debut in Japan’s Fashion Week. “She is perhaps the first humanoid to walk on two feet and resemble the average body type of a young Japanese woman”, says Shuji Kajita, Director of Humanoid Robot Engineering at the Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. The black-haired modelbot has 30 motors in her body so she can move arms and legs, eight motors in her face to make expressions, and she can strike a mean pose. Check out the video to see her debut.

Chanel’s Perspex Briefcase for iPod

Karl Lagerfeld loves that iPod, and has designed several iPod trunks and cases in the past, so it’s no surprise to see him professing his love for the iconic player again, this time with a see thru briefcase. The case appeared on the runway in Paris, and holds only a few necessities a woman needs like lipstick, sunglasses, perfume, powder, and of course, the iPod. No one’s certain if this beautiful acrylic briefcase will actually be sold to the public, but we love it nevertheless.

Christian Siriano Loves that Twitter

I love, love, love Christian Siriano. He’s just so talented and fun to watch. Well, LG gave us the opportunity to meet him during Fashion Week and chat with him backstage after he unveiled his Egyptian-inspired 2009 Fall collection. It was just so amazing. I’ve never been to an actual fashion show, much less sit across Tori Spelling, who by the way was all about using her camera phone to videotape the entire show for her hubby.
We also spotted a few celebs in the front row, like Nina Garcia, Miss J, and Marc Indelicato from “Ugly Betty.” Overall, it was a night to remember. But back to our point, we managed to sneak in a few geeky questions during our interview to test just how tech savvy Siriano is, and let me tell you, he loves to Twitter. He also debuted a fab garment for the Lotus as part of his new “Divas and Designers” (love the name!) partnership with LG. The LG-Siriano partnership also includes a nationwide program that allows budding designers and stylists to create and submit their own “mood boards” online through www.lglotus.com. Siriano will select one board, and the winner will spend a day with him in his New York City design studio — all expenses paid. While in New York, the winner will work with Siriano to co-create an accessory — influenced by the winning mood board — that will be presented to the winner at the designer’s show in September 2009. Isn’t that great? Anyway, check the video below:

Bloggers meet Vivienne Tam

First of all, I want to thank HP, Buzz Corps, Vivienne Tam, and all the talented bloggers I got to meet last week in New York. I got really sick during my trip, but I managed to make it to most of the events and even met the wonderful Vivienne Tam who welcomed us to her SoHo-chic boutique to get a sneak peek of her Fall 2009 Collection which was to die for. I managed to interview Ms. Tam who told me the Peony design was about making women happy because the flower stands for happiness, and that she hopes to learn more about technology. She also tells me she hopes to design more accessories for the HP Mini and perhaps unveil another notebook soon. We had such a great time at her boutique which was full of beautiful women admiring both Vivienne Tam’s new Fall 09′ collection as well as the Vivienne Tam HP Mini. One wall was even lined with HP Touchsmart computers so bloggers could update their blog while at the party! All in all, I was impressed by how gracious Ms. Tam was as she talked to her guests, signed their HP Minis in gold ink, and posed for pictures. She truly is awesome!

Siriano unveils vest for LG Lotus

I’ve never been to Fashion Week in New York, so I was really excited when HP invited me to meet Vivienne Tam and LG invited me to meet Christian Siriano in the same week. As you know, Christian Siriano partnered with LG and even designed a fabulous scarf for the Lotus that debuted at Fashion Week last year. This year, the ‘Project Runway’ alum did it again by introducing a new a accessory for the trendy Lotus. On Thursday, I headed to the Tents at Bryant Park to see the new fashionable garment make its way down the runway in the form of a beautiful satin chocolate-colored vest being worn by one of the models. The phone was half-hanging from her right hand pocket, which from far away didn’t make much sense, until you see the gold chain that clips to the phone to keep in place much like a pocket watch. It’s not uncommon to think of phones as a time piece, but clipping one to the vest like a pocket watch is not the most practical way to carry a phone if you ask me. Nonetheless, the vest is as trendy as the Lotus, and I have no doubt this garment will also be a hit among Siriano fans.

Fashion Week: Sony Techno Chic

Gadgets are a fashionista’s favorite accessory, so it’s no surprise to hear our favorite geeksessories will be making their way down the runway at Fashion Week 2009. Last week, Sony held an event called Techno Chic and our Techie Divas Honey and Lauren attended the exclusive event in New York that showcased the VAIO Lifestyle PC . The event was held at the Sony Style Store on Madison Avenue where a pink carpet lined the way to the trendy party. Here New York socialites and designers mingled among models dressed as mannequins. Honey tells us the human mannequins were showing off the clutch sized computers in what reminded her of a “pose off” during America’s Next Top Model. Fashion Designers Libertine, Elise Overland, threeASFOUR, Benjamin Cho, Katy Rodriguez, and Cushnie et Ochs dressed the windows and the “mannequins” with their personal fashion. Benjamin Cho DJ’d the uber techno Chic Manhattan party. Here are some pictures from the event.
