Angelina Jolie Admits to Being Tech-Challenged

Here’s more evidence that stars are “Just Like Us:”
Angelina Jolie has become a sort of icon in the video game world thanks to her role as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, and she also happens to be one of my favorite high-tech heroines after playing “Jane” in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (and snatching THE hottest man alive). I mean, who wouldn’t want all those high-tech surveillance gadgets she used in the movie to track her targets or that sweet tricked-out wall oven full of knives? Disappointing news everyone, turns out the real Mrs. Jolie-Pitt is technologically challenged. People Magazine says that while attending the Santa Barbara International Film Festival this weekend (she received the Outstanding Performance of the Year Award for her role in A Mighty Heart) Angelina said her life isn’t so high-tech: “As Brad knows, I don’t really know how to turn on a computer.” Well that’s news. The woman can fly a plane, but she can’t turn on a computer? What is this world coming to? What do you think? Is Angie being modest here or do you think she really needs help in the computer department? Ha! It feels good to know sometimes she can’t have it all.

Sundance Celebs Get Physical at Wii Lounge

Forget the press junkets and independent films, when celebs head to the Sundance Film Festival they do it to attend the private parties or gift suites like the popular Wii Lounge. Gaming site 1UP caught a glimpse of Tara Reid playing a game on the Wii that requires her to do some type of sword fighting, and Variety has proof that Josh Hartnet, William H. Macy, Richard Jenkins stopped by the Wii Lounge, perhaps hoping to score a Wii? Ah, it feels good to know even celebs have a hard time getting a Wii.

Remembering Heath Ledger

This week has been a really tough one for many of us. As many of you have heard, the world has lost a very talented young man this week, and his tragic death has been devastating to many. It’s really hard to concentrate on anything else, really. And if you’re still feeling like I am, you’re probably devouring every bit of Heath Ledger news in an attempt to make some sense of it all. I obviously never knew him, but like many of you, I was very sad when I found out he was gone. I couldn’t stop thinking about his daughter who will never really know him, or how his parents must’ve felt being so far away from him at the time of his passing. I usually don’t do this, but I honestly felt like paying a small tribute to him in some way. I guess it’s my way of commencing the healing process or an attempt to keep him alive in my thoughts. I really didn’t know how to do this, except by listing articles that pay homage or talk about the charming Australian guy we never really knew. Celebs and their Gadgets

Some of us love that celebrity gossip, don’t we? I just started a special section on Yahoo Tech called "Star Power" of interviews with celebrities where we dish about gadgets, music, videos, and what they do on their spare time. I’ve published three interviews so far, and will be publishing at least one or two interviews per week in the next couple of months. If you’re a James Blunt fan, as am I, then check out this interview. I’ve always been a James Blunt fan, but after this interview, I’m a fan for life. CTIA, Tila Tequila, and Mobiles

As some of you may know, this week has been a busy week for journalists covering the CTIA event in San Francisco, so I apologize for the light blog posting here. A lot of hands-on reviews of great products coming out this holiday season, so we’ll be talking about them in the next couple of days. I attended the Mobile Focus mini-event last night at the Meteron where I spotted some great phones like the Luxury RAZR2 V8 (I hear it will most likely cost $299) which I thought was a little flashy at first, but wasn’t as chintzy as I originally thought it would be. I also thought the new Motorola Q Music had a nice interface when you switch to the music player side, and I loved the new color. The Moto U9 reminded me of a thinner version of the Pebble, and besides being so ultra-feminine, it has a tiny screen on the front that plays fun animations. Definitely a nice handful of phones. I also spotted the LRG iPhone cases I told you about earlier, and the Aloha phone by LG which is really lightweight. After the Mobile Focus event, I headed over to the Supperclub to chat with Tila Tequila who was hosting a party, along with INGrooves and Emdigo (make sure you check them out). She tells me her new show "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila" has been airing on MTV, and doing very well. MTV’s ratings have actually gone up since the show aired! It was Tila’s Birthday today, so we wish her a Happy Birthday too! We took lots of pictures, so make sure you stop by to check them out on our Flickr page.

Ankle Bracelets: New Fall Fashion Accessory?

Remember that little article we published about the SCRAM Bracelets, and how they work? It seems these alcohol monitoring devices just can’t stay off celebrity ankles. We’ve seen them on Lindsay Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez, and Eve, but I never expected them to actually become a fashion accessory. The black ugly tracking device was spotted walking down the runway at a recent Karl Lagerfield fashion show. Not sure if this was a joke or if the model wearing it was actually supposed to be wearing one, but isn’t this trend going too far? Via Fashion Weekly

Rumor has it a Beyonce phone is in the works. The fanboys over at Dial-a-Phone couldn’t wait for the juicy spy shots so they mocked up what they imagine the bootylicious Beyonce phone should look like. Take that Rhianna!

"Look at that gorgeous figure and of course the famous Beyoncé booty to boot! It’s decked in luscious gold and looks great on its leopardskin display carpet! Maybe its not the most ergonomic phone ever produced but who can complain with a sexy body like that!"

Tan While You Shower

What do Kevin Bacon, Shannon Elizabeth, and Rex Lee (Lloyd from Entourage) all have in common–besides being C-listers in Hollywood? They all signed a ProSun Sunshower, that was auctioned off at Richard Branson’s foundation-you know the one that does that thing, to benefit those people, but really don’t know how. Anywho, Shannon Elizabeth actually scored one, so we at least know how she gets that nice even tan. The ProSun is basically installed in your stand-up shower, and all you have to do is set the intensity and time of the tanning program before you step in. It’s supposed to be a great way to build a tan, and keep it without resorting to grueling hours outside in the sun-you know how much that sucks. It’s also supposed to be safer than direct UV light, but I’m sure that’s debatable. If you have the means, you can get yourself one for an unspecified amount of money over at ProSun. And the Geekiest Tattoo Goes To…

I4U points out that Angelina Jolie now had four lines of numbers tattooed on her arm. As we all know, these numbers are coodinates of where the children were born. Apparently, these four lines of gibberish (to most of us anyway) has sparked interest in the coordinate system, and people are consulting Google Earth for the exact location. Ten points to whoever gives me the exact location of these coordinates.

Wow! Being a celebrity must be tough gig, I mean with all the paparazzi hounding you all the time, even after your name slipped to the bottom of the C-list, and your last major movie role was over a decade ago. Yet somehow, the papos managed to piss Sharon Stone off by taking her pretty picture, and here you see her fighting back with her Dolce & Gabanna Golden RAZR. I can’t tell whether she’s retaliating or just capturing her last paparazzi encounter. BTW, Sharon, you might want to rethink the face contorting in front of the cameras. Makes you look a little crazy…
