Sharewear concept dress

August 1, 2008 by BabyReaps

Walking home alone after a late night out, only to find that the path leading up to your home isn’t properly lighted? Why, that wouldn’t be a problem at all with the Sharewear concept dress by designer Di Mainstone. Sure, it makes you look rather ridiculous but there is the added advantage of having the area around you lighted. Not recommended during those summer months since bugs would probably be attracted to you (those are the least of your worries - what about weirdos and other psychopaths?). The Sharewear actually consists of a couple of dresses that are slotted together at the hip section. Definitely not practical in any sense, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Amosu loves them some diamonds

July 29, 2008 by BabyReaps

I know that Olympics fever is setting in since it is less than a fortnight before the greatest sporting event for the next four years will be held again, and everyone is gunning for gold. Or are they? I know for sure that Amosu won’t be part of the gold mentality herd, as they’re looking far beyond that precious metal, setting their sights on diamonds instead with the Amosu Ultimo Diamond. This handset will rightfully take its place as the most expensive iPhone in the world, retailing for $177,300 a pop. There are 1,179 dazzling reasons why this is so, and each reason is represented by a diamond for a total of 16.18 carats. Each cell phone will be hand crafted by master craftsmen, so you know you’ve arrived when you whip this out at the next social function.

I suppose laptops are like us humans - it would be nice to wear something different from time to time, and Ice Red Bags sees to this need with a new range of differently designed laptop totes. First off we have the Shine laptop bag that comes covered in a glossy vinyl cover that has a 60s vibe going for it, and it will be available in black, pink or silver colors, holding laptops up to 17″ in size securely within. In addition, you also get external zipper pockets to store miscellaneous items like name cards, while an organizer helps you stash away pens, loose change, a phone and an iPod safely. Up next would be the Siroco Urban Laptop Tote bag that boasts a sportier design. It will feature a crinkle-nylon exterior and full lining with high-quality 420D nylon and holds laptops up to 15.4″ in size, accompanied by a vast array of compartment pockets.

Apple iPhone Bluetooth wireless headset gets dressed

July 15, 2008 by BabyReaps

Apple’s ordinary looking iPhone Bluetooth wireless headset has received the maestro’s touch, and in this case, the latter would be German jewelry designer Andi Monn. Andi has managed to bling up the iPhone’s earpiece with a range of striking metal covers, where all you need to do is slip the form-fitting metal sleeve over the body of your headset and you’re good to go. He has thrown in a specially designed magnet to keep the sleeve in place without affecting the electronics of the earpiece. Each €159 purchase will be accompanied by a leather cord that you can wear around your neck, in addition to a custom-embossed keyring for that added touch of exclusivity. You will be able to choose from .925 Sterling silver or high-grade brushed steel as the material of choice. Of course, if you have the extra dough to spare, you can always put in a discreet request to Andi Monn to use gold, platinum, white gold, or other precious metals.

ContinentalMobiles offer the Midas touch

July 14, 2008 by BabyReaps

Just how much money would make you happy? Apparently, the right answer is ,”Just one more dollar.” I guess the same applies to not only money but other precious things in life such as treasured possessions and jewelry. The marriage of technology and jewelry isn’t new, but it amazes me that there are people who would actually fork out insane amounts of money to pick up a gold covered and diamond studded cell phone. ContinentalMobiles.com caters for such a market, offering a bunch of handsets and iPods that feature gold, white gold, rose gold or diamond enhancements. All the cell phones available are already unlocked, and each purchase comes with a pair of white gloves to prevent you from smudging it. Not too practical, but great for earning bragging rights. Prices start from £1,499 for the phones and £599 upwards for iPods.

Asics Gel Lyte III changes color

July 14, 2008 by BabyReaps

So you love a particular pair of shoes and the different colors it comes in, but have only enough money to bring home a single pair. What are you to do? Keep your fingers crossed and hope that the Asics Gel Lyte III technology will be exported onto other brands, as this pair of running shoes change color the moment they’re exposed to strong sunlight, changing from white to purple. Definitely an interesting novelty, not to mention Asics shoes being rather comfortable to wear no matter the condition. Mark August 23 on your calendar as that’s when the Asics Gel Lyte III will be available at retail stores.

LED dress for fashionistas

July 8, 2008 by BabyReaps

Don’t really know what to wear to the next cocktail party that is fast approaching this weekend? Well, why not settle for something alternative and spectacular at the same time with the LED dress? This unique and stylish piece of clothing was designed by Mary Huang, and has been dubbed “Rhyme & Reason”. It utilizes light as a material to create transformative fashions, causing people to pause and reflect on the change we see from day to night. I would imagine this being a very pretty shopping outfit, but as dusk falls and you go out to hail a cab, some drunken person on the streets might mistake you for being an angel, glow and all. Just in case you don’t feel like wearing this at night, you can always hang it up to turn it into a reading lamp. Neat!

Nokia N95 gets blinged…again

July 6, 2008 by BabyReaps

Nokia’s N95 cell phone is the flagship of the N-Series from the Finnish cell phone manufacturer for quite some time already, but as with time, the specifications within aren’t that hot any more these days. It lacks the fresh touch screen input found on the iPhone and a slew of other smartphones, but it still is able to pack more than a capable punch even until today with the rest of its features. Instead of livening up the innards, why not take a different route by sprucing up the outer section? This diamond-encrusted N95 from Continental Mobiles boasts a smooth Sterling silver front panel set with 4.42 carat of brilliant-cut, VS1 quality, naturally mined diamonds. The price to pay for such opulence would be £10,000.

Kinetic energy from bra powers iPod

June 24, 2008 by BabyReaps

Bras are supposed to be intimate wear that offers ample support to prevent the ravages of gravity, right? Well, what happens with all that swinging around during a workout that you could actually harvest kinetic energy generated so that they can be used to power a portable device like a cell phone or iPod instead? Researchers already have data on the physics of breast motion over the past 20 years, and these results were mostly used to design a more comfortable sports bra. What if that same data could be studied and developed further for a kinetic energy harvesting bra? That’d be really something, but it does require the lady wearing one to be pretty well endowed.

Battery operated Mascara

June 20, 2008 by BabyReaps

Estee Lauder is no stranger to the world of cosmetics, and it has forged a new path with a tube of vibrating mascara, widely believed to be the first of its kind in the world. Apparently, Estee Lauder has done their research, coming to the conclusion that there is a ‘relationship between vibration, length, volume, separation and curl’. No hairy cracks at that statement please, but the final result would be the impressively named “Turbolash All effects Motion Mascara”. It is able to vibrate at 125 micropulses per second and cannot be purchased anywhere else but at Saks fifth Avenue this coming July 17th. Will you line up for one of these $30 gizmos?
