legodressWho says you can’t be stylish and geeky at the same time? Here’s the Lego Dress by designer JC De Castelbajac that has printed the famous Lego brick design all over it in different colors, and just like Lego bricks that are able to fit to one another perfectly (it’s magic, I know!), this dress will also fit all shapes and sizes, as long as, you know, it comes in your size. Well, would you fork out $135 for this perfect summer dress (to those who’re living in the northern hemisphere, of course)?

Vertu Boucheron 150 bling phone

December 10, 2008 by BabyReaps

Times are hard, or so they say. The folks at Vertu scoff at that idea though, coming up with this brand new luxury handset that will surely have you (and King Midas) drooling - assuming you can afford one, that is. The Vertu Boucheron 150 was specially commissioned by the Parisian jewelry establishment to celebrate its 150th device, and it is created out of solid gold, taking a whopping 1,000 hours to shape, 700 hours to hand polish it and 500 hours to build it without machines but human hands. The sapphire crystal keypad will definitely be lovely to touch, and you get a lovely wooden case from Noce Pedullo walnut courtesy of Swiss house Reuge. It is tipped that the Vertu Boucheron 150 will retail for at least $30,000, making this one uber expensive 3G handset.

The Japanese sure love their Hello Kitty, don’t they? Just a few days after announcing a Hello Kitty laptop, along comes Epson Japan who has also a Hello Kitty netbook in tow. This time round, it will be sold online exclusively from December 10th onwards in Japan, and is based on Epson’s Endeavor NJ2150. Expect a slew of pink and white colors that have come to epitomize the Hello Kitty brand, and you can select between a combo model or a “super-multi version”, retailing for $1,200 and $1,500, respectively. Both models will feature two different designs. As for the combo model, that will be powered by a relatively weak Intel Celeron 575 2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, a 80GB HDD, a 15.4″ TFT WXGA screen at 1280 × 800 resolution, a DVD drive, Wi-Fi connectivity, Windows Vista and pre-installed Hello Kitty wallpapers. As for the pricier super-multi model, that comes with similar specifications save for the beefed up Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26GHz processor, double the RAM, a 120GB HDD and a DVD Super-Multi drive.

Dunhill USB flash drive takes the bling route

November 26, 2008 by BabyReaps

I’ve always associated the Dunhill brand name with something much older people wear, ranging from their clothes to their perfumes. It is interesting to see this company play a more refreshing role by wooing the younger generation with something more modern - case in point, the Dunhill Black Diamond USB flash drive that is made of oxidized sterling silver and encrusted with two hundred and seventy two brilliant cut diamonds. You will be able to store up to 8GB worth of data within, and something tells me the diamonds on the outside will be worth much more than the data inside, unless, of course, it contains risque pictures of yourself in compromising positions that could hold you blackmail for much, much more if it ever falls into the wrong hands.

MasterCard offers diamond-studded cards

November 3, 2008 by BabyReaps

Just when you thought that the wheels of the world’s economy is about to fall off, leaving the global economic vehicle to come to a grinding halt, along comes some rather optimistic companies like MasterCard who figured out that the world’s super rich won’t really mind which way the stock market is heading, since they have amassed more than enough wealth to last many generations down the road. Literally a gen of a card, this new diamond studded card comes with a diamond and is laced with gold. This card is known as Diamond, and will come studded with a 0.02-carat gem, featuring special designs depending on the credit card holder’s gender. Rich females will be able to enjoy the image of a peacock while gentlemen have a winged horse - Pegasus’ descendant, perhaps? The card will feature a $1,000 annual fee and will be issued within a couple weeks’ time via MasterCard and Kazkommertsbank. There is a credit limit of $50,000, and you will be blessed with a personal card “manager” who can be disturbed round the clock.

Gresso USB flash drives are all blinged out

September 25, 2008 by BabyReaps

If you are thinking of injecting an extra bit of ghetto bling into your everyday office gizmos, then you could definitely consider these USB flash drives from Gresso. Pimped out in a couple of versions - Constellation and the Labyrinth, these exclusive products are constructed from 20-year old African black rosewood and will be restricted to just 99 units around the world. That ought to go a long way in reminding you of just how limited and exclusive these are, so let the bidding wars begin. Losing one will definitely be a heartache, since each Gresso flash drive is adorned in fancy diamonds and embraced in 18k yellow or white gold. Prices start from $7,365 upwards, while regular models from Gresso retail anywhere from $300 to $400 (still ouch). Inside the Gresso Enigma is 192GB of storage space - that’s because it stores a trio of 64GB flash cards! Pimpin’!

Motion Responsive Sportswear

September 19, 2008 by BabyReaps

Kerri Wallace, a designer from the UK wants to elevate her form of work/art to another level where sports and fitness wear are concerned. In this aspect, she hopes to rely on motion responsive textiles in her research project, dubbed ‘Motion Responsive Sportswear’. This new range will rely on heart rate and body temperature in order to trigger a visual representation of the activity level by changing the color pattern found on the sports apparel. These colors are printed using temperature specific thermo-chromic and thermo-chromic liquid crystal inks. I wonder what would Usain Bolt’s running outfit look like if he was dressed in one of these whenever he rules the tracks - will he be too fast that the outfit spontaneously combusts?

LG Lotus for the fashion conscious

September 11, 2008 by BabyReaps
Filed under Cell Phones, Fashion, Featured

Want to impress your girlfriends the next time you hang out with them? Well, instead of gushing over the latest handbag that recently arrived from Paris, why not stun your clique with the LG Lotus? This stunning clamshell handset is different from ordinary cell phones, as it has the touch of fashion designer Christian Siriano. Does that name ring a bell? It should, since he is the winner of the highly rated reality show “Project Runway” in season IV. This handset will debut along with a one-of-a-kind scarf that was specially designed to complement the LG Lotus at the New York City Fashion Week.

Being a Sprint exclusive phone, the LG Lotus is comes with a full QWERTY keyboard in a clamshell form factor, and has the honor of being the first batch of devices that offer One Click, a customizable user interface that makes everyday tasks such as text messaging, accessing the Internet, reading email, Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV and Sprint Music Store among others a snap to access. Other features include stereo Bluetooth connectivity, a 2 megapixel camera, a microSD memory card slot and external music controls.

Olympic themed flash drives

August 9, 2008 by BabyReaps

Being a Chinese, I can’t help but be proud of just how well the Beijing 2008 Olympics kicked off, what with the stunning opening ceremony and all. Lenovo, being a China-based company, no doubt threw in a fair bit of money into the $300 million opening extravaganza budget, and they are also behind the official Olympics USB flash drive range. Among them are the Olympic torch model that comes with 4GB of storage space, featuring the games logo at the center surrounded by swirling red clouds. Those who prefer something more animated might settle for the Mascot series that consists of half a dozen units at 4GB each as well. The third collection will see five medallions, although it is pretty hard to detect where the USB plug is hidden. Last but not least, there will only be ten available units of the extremely limited edition drive set that features 1GB titanium drives with a swiveling USB connector, all encased in a special mahogany box.
