BBQ Gadget
As I look forward to camping trips this year, I start looking at gadgets related to the outdoors. I stumbled on this new one that looks like it would be excellent for both camping and at home.
Qbag, is made of aluminum foil and is a bag made for food that you need to cook longer on the grill or steam up. We will catch Trout and cook them up and this type of setup would be perfect. Also mushrooms, garlic or potatoes seem to be a few other options.
Not only does it protect the food from the fire, but it has a clear window on it so that you can see how the food is doing through it. Another feature is the peel-away window so that you can tend to the food and keep it cooking.
Why use tin foil when you can use a gadget type idea instead? The Qbag runs around $5.95 for 8 by Prezzybox.

Farecast Mines Cheap Flight Options
A site that could save you both money and time. Farecast brings you options when it comes to booking your flight. Especially if you have business travel on your list. Fares fluctuate constantly, and, as was found by Oren Etzioni during a flight he took to his brother’s wedding, pricing doesn’t depend on how soon you schedule the flight.

Back in 2003, Etzioni and colleagues published a paper showing that they
could predict the fluctuation in airline-ticket prices and after sifting through the history of more than 12,000 airfares for
nonstop flights from two major locations. Through this, they found that their research had a 62% accuracy with regards to the rise and fall of future ticket prices.
Reportedly the Farecast site is quite different than similar competitors like Kyak or FareCompare. These sites use different comparisons and it’s quoted: "Farecast differs from these companies by using sophisticated algorithms
to mine enormous data sets of more than 175 billion airfares from
around the country. This data is collected by Boston-based ITA Software, a company that works with airlines and travel sites such as Hotwire and Orbitz to help with pricing and reservations."
Sounds useful to me!

Brain Powered Gaming?
A company, Emotiv Systems, has come out with an EEG cap that could enhance your gaming experience. Not only can it sense your mood (excited vs. calm) but it can also be trained to read your "brain power" and graphically move things.

Apparently you spend 10 mins. or so training the system to your motives and then you have the ability to move 3D objects on the screen with simple skills like push, pull, rotate and other choices.
They are working to advance this and have released the project to other companies saying that this would give the EEG cap and the software to them for further development. These companies can now purchase the electro-encephalograph (EEG) caps and software developer’s tool kits for this purpose.
Sounds like it’s certainly getting advanced when it comes to gaming and other electronic advances that are happening. Here’s more detail about the cap:
Emotiv’s electro-encephalograph cap: Each small circle on the
cap is a sensor that measures the electrical activity at the scalp
generated by brain activity and facial movements. The information is
wirelessly transmitted to a computer, where software uses it to let
people mentally interact with video games.

Spam Poison Might Create Regret
Do you hate spam? (who doesn’t?) Do you want to join in the crusade against those that spam your mailbox constantly?

Spam Poison is the way to go. An anti-spam site that will keep the crawlers away from your real email and instead, turn the tables on them. Spiders will crawl your websites (or others you are involved in) for email addresses to send out ads and articles to. Instead of publishing your REAL address, utilize spam poision to get back at the spammers!
All you do is link to the spam poison page (they give you the code) and it will suck the crawler over to that page and they will begin getting spam in THEIR box.
The site says: "These
links will redirect email harvesting bots to trap sites that will feed
it with an almost infinite loop of dynamically generated fake email
addresses, mostly on known spammer owned domains! This will render
their harvested lists practically useless and of no commercial value."
It’s worth a try!

Not Halloween, Just Cool

You’ve seen the Hello Kitty toaster, right? How about the toaster you simply slide the bread
in and it comes out toast? Now there is an evil rival for them both. The Skull Toaster from Totenkopf. Now you can have an image that will make your visitors wonder how good the toast really is…
Decorate your full kitchen in skull and crossbones designs and you can almost guarantee that you’ll dine alone more often. Do you like quiet meals?
This one looks like it runs a little over $43 so you’d want to make sure that you decorate around it with flair.

Sports Toys
The Discovery Store is one that I frequent. I can admit that I enjoy knowledge and technology pushed together. I noticed that they have a new Virtual Distance Football available. The football has a display that monitors how far you have thrown the ball.

I’m into competition so I can really see this product being used for that. I can also see it being used to better your own throw. Apparently it is made of foam and has a nice readout of the yardage you throw the ball. It measures in yards and looks as if it’s only got a two-digit readout (so don’t throw more than 99 yards, right?).
The site claims advanced electronics register a distance readout upon impact of the throw. The readout area looks to be flush to the ball so it won’t affect your handling of the ball itself, which is a plus. The item runs around $19.95 and could be a nice idea for a gift for that person who "has everything".

3Style Mouse
Cylo has a new mouse and it’s a neat concept but would take some getting used to. It’s the new 3Style mouse for 3D applications. Not only does it do the usual point + click action but you can turn the mouse to the left or right for other options.
Choose items on a menu quickly or work with a program that normally would take keyboard action. The three-dimensional aspect is a neat idea and could be put to good use for some programs. I’m just not sure that I could adjust to such a mouse when for so long…ok, change is good. I’ll check one out as soon as I can. This one’s much like the click wheel on an iPod, isn’t it?
The site has a nice phrase as follows: Evolve:Revolve, which I kinda like. It makes it easier to accept the fact that change comes along and sometimes it’s best to take that road. The site also claims that this mouse might give one a competitive edge when gaming. I’ll have to think about that…

Wii and Recharging
If you already own a Nintendo Wii or if you’re sure you are going to be the winner of our BIG TechieDiva.com Wii giveaway, then you’ll LOVE this new gadget.

Thanko in Japan normally focuses on USB gadgets and now they have a USB remote control charger for the Nintendo Wii. The charger comes with a USB cradle and also a Wiimote battery cover that also has a special nickel battery attached.
Simply switch the Wiimote battery cover with this cover and with the special cover having contact terminals at the back, similar to a cordless phone, you won’t lose any personalized settings to reset each time you connect.
According to reports, batteries charge completely in 3.5 hours and provide up to 25 hours of gameplay. This works with a PC or a MAC and has cool blue LED lights to indicate charging times. Also reported, the new battery is much lighter compared to 2 AA batteries. This is on sale in Japan, selling a set of two for around $53 and one single unit for only around $30.
