Tag Heuer Meridiist cell phone

Posted on 21 April 2008 by BabyReaps

Tag Heuer is synonymous with watches, but it doesn’t want to be left out of the luxury cell phone segment as well. After all, the Vertu features extremely insane prices, and yet there is enough market for it to sustain sales at swanky boutiques across the world, so why can Tag Heuer do the same? You won’t find diamond-studded handsets here, but it does look solid and luxurious enough to warrant a four-digit price tag. Co-developed with Modelabs, the Meridiist comes in an all-metal casing, complete with a sapphire crystal screen, a 2-megapixel camera, multimedia playback capability, a 1.9″ QVGA display, Bluetooth connectivity and a battery life that supports up to 7 hours of talk time. Pricing ranges from €3,400 to €3,900, depending on the customizations you decide to throw in. Anyone lusting after the Meridiist this second quarter?

Onion Chopping Goggles

Posted on 20 April 2008 by BabyReaps

One of the things about onions I hate is this - chopping them always leaves me shedding more tears than when my dear grandpa departed. Never again with the Onion Chopping Goggles for those who love bustling about in the kitchen, cooking up culinary masterpieces for the family.

Special goggles have a foam seal to keep onion vapors out of your eyes, while anti-fog lenses let you see clearly what you’re doing. Not for use over glasses. Storage case included.

Each pair retails for $9.99 and with Mother’s Day coming up, this makes for the perfect gift from the thoughtful child. Husbands, you’d better do something than a $9.99 gift lest you be deprived of the bed at night.

Case Logic goes retro with iPod cases

Posted on 20 April 2008 by BabyReaps

Case Logic is certainly fond of the past, as it has recently released a traditional tin metal case for the current generation of iPod nano as well as 80GB/160GB models of the iPod Classic. These tins will be custom fitted for either iPod, and features a silicon insert that lines the inside in order to help cushion whatever external wear and tear from harming the iPod. Holes have been cut in the top and bottom to provide you with the necessary access to the iPod’s ports and controls, while the lid itself will be able to slide up and down, enabling you to view the screen while accessing the scroll wheel. Each of these cases will retail for $30 and will come in black, pink, eggplant purple or silver colors (dependent on the model you pick up).

Solar Powered Pool Heating Rings

Posted on 18 April 2008 by BabyReaps

We all know that heating a home takes quite a fair bit of energy, and all of these will add up at the end of the day. The Solar Powered Pool Heating Rings help raise the temperature within an average sized swimming pool by up to 3 to 4 degrees F in a week. They remain where they are, courtesy of magnet clasps that also helps prevent water evaporation during the day. I suppose if you’re rich enough to afford a swimming pool in your home, surely the traditional heating method won’t be too much of a burden on your monthly expenses? Oh yeah, I forgot - you are probably one of those tree hugging folks who drive a Prius and do not wear fur. The Solar Powered Pool Heating Rings can be picked up for $69.95 a set.

iWorld offers Stereo Boom Bags

Posted on 18 April 2008 by BabyReaps

If you have a penchant for all things retro, then the NGC Stereo Boom Bags from iWorld will definitely fit the bill. In addition to providing you with an instant time travel moment back to the 80s with old school designs, these bags feature integrated FM radio sets along with a pair of speakers to terrorize the rest of the folk sitting in the same train carriage as you. Alternatively, you can spare them the pains of Britney Spears by using the included 3.5mm jack. The sound quality definitely isn’t much to shout about, but it ought to be enough for a casual day out with friends and family. Choose from “Tape Deck” and “DJ Mixer” designs, where either one will retail for £18.99.

Each of these gift cards come with a built-in USB cable measuring 1″ in length which can be easily released using a mechanical switch located on the bottom edge. Gear4 unveils new Bluetooth receiver

Posted on 17 April 2008 by BabyReaps

Gear4 has a hush-hush product that is bound to elicit some “oohs” and “aahs” from people who lay their eyes on it. This new Bluetooth receiver for HiFi systems is also known as the Blustream RX, and looks pretty much like any other hockey puck. It is roughly the size of a standard British three-pin plug, and is pretty solid thanks in part of Gear4 doing away with the standard plasticky budget feel of many a Bluetooth accessory these days. The Blustream RX is able to pair with any Bluetooth transmitter, hooking up to your HiFi through a stereo cable. Audiophiles will probably steer clear of this since Bluetooth transmits music in a lossy compression, which means the sound won’t be as crisp as on the source itself. It will retail for approximately $100 each.

Xpad Laptop Cooling

Posted on 17 April 2008 by Cat

Your laptop has to stay cool and there are so many options that will do the job, but how many actually work? One safe choice that I have tested recently is the Xpad. It features a non-slip laptop cooler with a heat shield. This cooling pad is constructed of a light material that is easily held in your lap or placed on a hard surface.

Reducing laptop overheating is of huge importance and too often I see people that do not focus on this as an important maintenance step. With a unique design of three layers of thermal insulation, trapped air pockets and the EVA padding on the bottom, this Xpad really worked to keep my laptop cool, even while gaming.

It was also very convenient when faced with having to place my laptop in my lap instead of the convenient desktop spot that I usually use. I had no problem getting comfortable and staying comfortable with the Xpad placed there and I was very impressed with how cool my laptop seemed. It also is a non-slip surface, that’s a huge plus! I have read that fan coolers can mess with the laptops already used fans and so I wanted to try something new out. The Xpad really seems to work and they have great reviews on their site. Take a look and see if it might be the answer to your cooling pad search.

High Resolution Tactical Head Camera

Posted on 16 April 2008 by BabyReaps

The High Resolution Tactical Head Camera that you see here targets a very specific crowd - only those who love the feeling of adrenaline coursing through their veins 24/7 ought to apply. It features the world “POLICE” placed prominently all over the kit, and retails for £229.99 a set which comprises of an ear mounted webcam. I guess this would make for an interesting experiment if you want to record down whatever you see from your point of view throughout an entire day, but then again it might carry some risk since there are folks on the street who ain’t too friendly with the police and would not mind bustin’ a cap or two.
