Hummer H3 is now remote controlled

Posted on 19 March 2008 by BabyReaps

Now isn’t this a hoot - a behemoth like the Hummer H3 being converted into a remote controlled car? This is definitely no toy, and it sounds almost as though it was plucked from some sort of future James Bond edition (remember the remote controlled BMW 750?). Touted to be the ultimate “boy’s toy”, this remote controlled Hummer H3 retails for a whopping £26,495. If you have a deep enough bank account and don’t really care about what happens to the environment, then purchasing one for your man will definitely win a lifetime of brownie points. Trust me on this. Just make sure he is holding down a job that can afford to pay for the fuel on this monster though.

Babies get anti-theft alarms

Posted on 18 March 2008 by BabyReaps

Society has degenerated to where we are today, with baby-napping being a very real scenario in our hospitals. Exhausted parents who have just undergone the birth of their child together need to get some quality sleep as well, which is where the hospital has to play their part in ensuring the safety of their patients. Babies will soon be equipped with anti-theft alarms, in Norway at least. After all, their country has experienced several instances of infant kidnappings before, so as the old adage goes, “an ounce of prevention is better than cure”. A bracelet containing a microchip will be attached to the infant’s ankle, while a similar bracelet is hooked up to the mother’s wrist. Whenever both bracelets are separated by a preset distance, an alarm will ring.

Posted on 18 March 2008 by BabyReaps

The iPhone was highly sought after when it was released last summer, and the fact that
Austrian luxury designer and jeweler Peter Aloisson has ideas to improve on its desirability makes this little cell phone that could even more exclusive. He has used his artistic talents to great effect, coming up with the iPhone Princess Plus is touted to being the most expensive iPhone in the world. The fact is, this iPhone has been laced with 138 Princess cut diamonds, accompanied by 180 other brilliant cut diamonds. What price to pay for such class? €120,000, to be exact. If you don’t have that much reserves swimming in your bank account, you can always settle for the brilliant cut-only diamonds iPhone that retail for €45,000.

Safretti Gaya fireplace

Posted on 18 March 2008 by BabyReaps

A fireplace is where families gather during those cold winter nights, spending quality time with one another. Traditionally, they are “powered” by dry wooden logs that burn brightly, keeping everyone around it warm. Fast forward to the 21st century and you get the Safretti Gaya fireplace which can actually be mounted on your wall, creating a billowing torch-like flame while adding a touch of sophistication to your home. It might look dangerous, but fret not. This alcohol-burning fixture might look as though emit heat like a real fireplace, but it spews out a mere 7.1kW of heat if you burn a liter of fuel within an hour. Perfect for impressing those dates of yours.— but hey, you can’t beat that ambiance. This model is so new, Safretti isn’t listing prices yet, but this kind of high style doesn’t come cheap.

USB Flash Drive Swarovski Crystal Engagement Ring

Posted on 18 March 2008 by BabyReaps

“Will you marry me?” is one question that any woman loves to hear. What happens if she is of the geeky variety - will a simple, romantic dinner at the local Italian restaurant do? I think not, and concepts like this USB Flash Drive Swarovski Crystal Engagement Ring are certainly welcome. Granted, it isn’t a diamond on top, but hey - it is the thought that counts, isn’t it? This handy USB flash drive allows one to lug around pictures of each other, in addition to lovey dovey poems and odes. Whenever both rings are joined, data can be transferred from one to the other. No idea on when this will materialize though.

Virgin Mobile Goes Viral with Spitzer Ad

Posted on 17 March 2008 by techiediva

In the Web 2.0 era, ad firms will say and do anything to go viral, and Virgin Mobile Canada certainly didn’t waste any time. I still find it hard to believe, but an ad of former Governor Eliot Spitzer with a thought bubble that says “I’m tired of being treated like a number” has been circulating the Internets–the number reference is in regards to his”Client Number 9″ status with you know who.

Under the picture:

“At Virgin Mobile, you’re more than just a number. When you call us we’ll treat you like a person, not a client. Whether you’re #9 or #900, you’ll get hooked up with somebody who’ll finally treat you just how you want to be treated.”

CNet reports that Nathan Rosenberg, CMO at Virgin Mobile, said the ad will run in the papers for two weeks as part of some “You call the shots” campaign.  Hilary and Barack will also be featured in said campaign.

MiniSkirt Season 2 Samsung Phone

Posted on 17 March 2008 by techiediva

It’s starting to feel like Spring now that we have more daylight in the evening. It’s still a bit chilly here (in S.F.) but stores are filling up with bright, colorful dresses as they prep for Easter. Over in Asia, Samsung is also getting for Springtime too with the upcoming release a color phone collection they’re calling MiniSkirt Season 2 (don’t ask). The Easter egg-shaped phones (SCH-C225/ SPH-C2005/ SPH-C2255) are packed with smile detection, haptic touch, and will be available in jewel-toned colors like purple, greem and orange. Other nice features include a 2-megapixel camera, GPS, Bluetooth, and a dictionary.  Gotta love those Japanese phones.  Of course, these phones will never make it to the States, but it’s always nice to see what the rest of the world will be sporting soon. (Akihabara) Continue Reading
