CES 2008 was all about HD and the future of televisions. My favorite concept was Panasonic’s LifeWall TV, a wall-sized interactive screen that lets each user design their own space with virtual decorations, and screens that follow you and resize depending on where you are in the room. The wall recognizes each indivudidual user, so when the user stands in front of the wall, they have the option to surf the internet, watch movies, display videos or photos, have videophone conversations, and even take remote classes with the help of an IP camera. You have to watch the video to understand how it works, so here it is. Continue Reading

Image is everything, and when it comes to a computers’ outside and notebook makers are taking notice. The Wall Street Journal has a full article devoted to the efforts PC makers are making to turn their wares into stylish devices able to compete with Apple products, and you know the trend is catching on when you have Bill Gates himself hosting a “PC fashion show” during his CES keynote. Gates along with Nigel Barker of “America’s Next Top Model” fame will be kicking off CES with a fabulous PC fashion Show where they’ll be selecting the notebook with the snazziest design according to PCWorld. I’m not exactly sure where these notebooks will be coming from, but I understand PC Magazine and HP will be displaying designer laptops by Paul Frank, Apple Bottoms, DDCLAB, Coltrane Curtis, and others. More on that later…

Gizmodo spotted three new friends to the original lime green Spykee Robot which can be used to Skype your friends in a fun way. The original robot was enabled with a webcam, microphone, and speaker and could be controlled via your computer. Now his new friends, Spykee Vox, Miss, and Cell do more than Skype, as the robots come with an iPod dock that supports the iTouch, a video surveillance camera, VoIP phone, microphone, loudspeaker, and MP3 player. I really like Skype Miss all dressed up in her pink and white robo-suit awaiting her Skype orders. You can find Spykee robots over at Erectorusa.com

New year, new site redesign on Techie Diva. You’ve probably noticed some downtime and a few kinks here and there (we apologize for that), but we’ve finally made the move to a new server hoping to make your experience a lot more pleasant on this site. Hopefully we make up for it next week, as we head to Las Vegas to take part in the biggest electronics show hosted every year and bring you some coverage. We’re anticipating a lot of stylish computers to emerge, bigger TVs, and lots of new gizmos so stay tuned. We’ll be uploading tons of images to our Flickr stream so keep an eye on that. In the meantime, if you know of any gizmos you’d like to see covered on the site let us know in the comments below. We’ll do our best to get the scoop for you. So take a breather, relax, and tune in next week for the scoop on CES 2008.
