Buzz Box set to annoy

Posted on 30 September 2007 by BabyReaps

buzzboxEveryone is familiar with the buzzing sound of an elusive mosquito, and that is enough to drive anyone nuts after a while. If you have a heart black enough to play a prank on your nemesis, the Buzz Box emits the exact same sound, making it a primary weapon when it comes to extracting state secrets from captured spies. I’m letting my imagination get the better of me, but the Buzz Box is one toy that will definitely be a pain in the ears as it forces the victim to search high and low for it just to stop the sound. They retail for £4.99 and will only come in batches of a dozen.

Going gold here doesn’t mean ready for a commercial launch, but more of the Midas touch variety. Japan’s favorite feline, Hello Kitty, has now expanded her range of merchandise to include gold Hello Kitty playing cards. They retail for approximately $5,000 a pack and will be made available from October 3rd onwards on Sanrio’s online store. Each card has been pressed to 7 microns with Mitsubishi Materials’ precision rolling technology and etched with royal Hello Kitty kings, queens and jacks. They are then sealed with a protective laminate for that lasting shine.

usb-hot-seat

Summer has ended all too soon and the dreary winter will soon be upon us. Thankfully, Thanko has gadgets that will prepare you for even the chilliest winter day with this USB Warmer Cushion. Once you hook it up to any available (and powered) USB port, you’ll soon start thawing out, starting from your bum to the rest of your body. There is even a heat control dial that makes this USB Warmer Cushion suitable for even the most sensitive of bums. The inclusion of a USB AC charger is a masterstroke for those who can’t seem to find a USB port in sight. This would make a nifty early Christmas gift, retailing for just $25.83 each. After all, it’d accompany the USB Warmer mouse perfectly.

ATH-ESW9 Sovereign Wood Headphones

Posted on 29 September 2007 by BabyReaps

ath-esw9-earphones

The ATH-ESW9 Sovereign Wood Headphones (what a mouthful) from Audio Technica ditches fine grade plastic in favor of Japanese Hokkaido cherry tree wood, featuring 42mm neodymium magnet drivers encased in fiberglass, and comes complete with a gold plated mini plug as well as a sensitivity level of 103dB. As any audiophile will tell you, anything with sound that comes from wood will definitely be richer and warmer, and the ATH-ESW9 Sovereign Wood Headphones does a pretty bang up job while looking good. They’re pretty expensive though (as anything involving chopping down trees would), retailing for $369 a pop when October 19th rolls around.

Pink Camera by Aiptek

Posted on 29 September 2007 by Cat

This 5 MP camera by Aiptek comes in both a refurbished condition or new and varies in price.  I love that they have a pink version for those of us that like to show our Techie Diva sides.  With a stereo MP3 player on board, it seems to have plenty of fun options for a camera you can stow away for quick trips or events.

A 4x Digital zoom is boasted to give this camera up to 8 MP, a TV/VCR output gives you the ability to share and display the movies and photos you take while out.  This can also be used as a webcam when connected to your computer or laptop.

The 1.5" digital display should be plenty to grab shots and movies and the camera also has digital video stabilization to help you out when in quick-moving situations.  Records 720 x 480 MPEG-4 video and the following features listed on the site as well:

6-in-1 Multi-Function Design: DV, DSC, MP3 Player, Voice Recorder, Webcam and Mass Storage Device

From $89.99 - $119.99 depending on which condition you choose and if you want the extended warranty coverage they offer.

Hidden Stash in a Shoe

Posted on 29 September 2007 by Cat

I know, winter is almost here, but in many areas you still have plenty of sun-time to go.  Beaches are still aflutter with visitors and shoes like these can make your visits lighter and more efficient.

The Reef Stash Sandal with a hidden compartment built into the foot bed will allow you to lessen the bags and wallets you need to carry when visiting the beach.  Instead, you can focus on walking and enjoying the sights while still having access to your money and ID.  You could even stash a key or two in here but don’t count on your key chain to fit.

Described as being constructed with a "sporty nubuck upper, arch support, and EVA midsole" these seem to be just sturdy enough to grab and wear, and I doubt you’ll feel anything you’ve stored away under your heel.  Comes in two colors and they run around $46 at Swell.

Little Bit Of Humor

Posted on 29 September 2007 by Cat

This X-posed shoulder bag will bring a smile to some faces, but be careful where you use it. With all the jokes surrounding travel and the inconvenient, but secure methods they have resorted to using, this bag can help you find the humor in that when not traveling.

Made of durable non-woven plastic fiber, this could be used to carry most anything.  Nobody will really know what’s inside because they will be too busy checking out the image on the outside to care.

For a mere $10 it’s a cute gift idea or a fun gift to give yourself.  Work for a travel agency?

Camping With TV

Posted on 28 September 2007 by Cat

Satgo_scenarios

The gadget lover in me tries so hard to hide when I enter into the world of camping and rugged outdoor activities.  I do realize, though, that many still love to take their favorite hobbies with them.  Included in these hobbies are the favorite shows or sports that we watch on the television.

DirecTV has a Sat-go system that can keep you connected, even when you are far out of reach of your usual home base.  Simply take along the Sat-go system to keep in touch with weather, NFL games or your favorite drama series.  Forget the satellite dish in this case, though, there’s no need for it.

The system has a case that when folded open, forms the antenna for your signal.  Point it south, use the beeping signal to determine strength, and tune in!  Very simply process to gain your favorite shows on the run.  A headphone jack allows you to have private listening but you can also use the attached pair of 3-watt speakers if you want to share the joy.

You cannot purchase this online but you can call DirecTV and set up service rather quickly.

Home Phones Deserve Sleek Design

Posted on 28 September 2007 by Cat

We have sharp looking cellphones and neatly designed PDA’s but where have the pretty home phones gone?  Philips picks up the pace a bit with their SE7452B-37 model phones.  A dual handset bundle with a digital answering machine, color display and other nice features.

These include multiple ring tones for contacts so that you can customize according to callers, Xhd high-quality sound, sim-card copying facility and reader, caller id and call waiting, SMS text messaging and even an alarm clock feature.  Chock full of more features than I plan to list here, the Philips phone really does take a step forward in making your home or business phone a bit more convenient.

A graphical user interface makes it easy to set up your personal options and the price of under $100 doesn’t make me cringe, either.  Looks to be a nice set, especially for a home office like my own!

Love your iPhone & your Music

Posted on 28 September 2007 by Cat

Yes, the iPhone has been marketed with so many features that it might be lost to some that you can store your favorite tunes on it, too.  With album artwork and easy use with the flick of a finger, you will want your music to sound as good as it’s stored.

Altec Lansing has some excellent iPhone compatible headphones for your to enjoy.  With an in-line microphone and controls, you will have all you need at your fingertips!  The UHS-306’s cost around $90 but after the initial investment on your iPhone, this won’t be a big deal to you.  Music should sound good.

These headphones feature cloth covered cords which keep knots from forming as often and allow you to untangle the cords if that does happen.  The mic. on the right cord is placed level with your chin so that you can answer and complete calls utilizing these.  Time to upgrade?

More information can be found here.
