iRiver unveils DF150 digital photo frame

Posted on 27 July 2007 by BabyReaps

Digital photo frames are definitely making their mark in the living room of homes across the world as more and more people jump onto the digital camera bandwagon. After all, having your favorite holiday moments stuck in an external hard drive or tons of flash memory isn’t going to make an impact compared to a physical photo album as well as memories shown in photo frames. iRiver has taken a break from developing portable media players to bring us the Siren DF150 digital photo frame.

The Siren DF150 looks like a classic photo frame at first glance, thanks to the mahogany frame. A closer peek reveals a 5.6" QVGA LCD display set within a metal sub frame along with memory card slots that read SD, MMC, CF, and Memory Stick formats. Just in case you have extra photos on a USB flash drive, the USB 2.0 port comes in handy. Unlike other digital photo frames, the Siren DF150 features 512MB of integrated flash memory, letting you use it straight from the box without purchasing additional memory. Features include a clock and calendar function, slide shows, image trimming, enlargement, and brightness adjustment among others. It will be released in Japan on August 3rd for roughly $125.

Award winning smile in an instant

Posted on 27 July 2007 by BabyReaps

beauty-smile-trainer

As everyone knows by now, smiling uses less muscles than a frown, and not only that, if you force yourself to smile despite feeling rather low, chances are pretty high that your countenance will lift thanks to counter programming of your emotions by your award winning smile. What if you still feel as though your lips are full of lead and just cannot bring yourself to flash those pearly whites? The answer lies in this Beauty Smile Trainer that is a no-brainer when you think about it.

It comes in a shape that is not too different from a banana, albeit in a much slimmer and smaller version to fit your mouth. A standard smile which you conjure is magically transformed into one that you often see in celebrity magazines. Not only do you end up with a much more amicable smile than the one you already parade, the Beauty Smile Trainer claims to reduce facial sagging, which is always a good thing in my books. Do you think this is a much better alternative than Botox and going under the knife?

Suit Up Your Nintendo DS

Posted on 27 July 2007 by Techie Diva

I was looking through ETSY, and I saw a barrage of handmade gadget cases for just about everything, but this one caught my eye. Fancy Animals makes the cutest cases. The case opens on the top so you can plug it in to recharge it, and features several pockets to hold your games. The designer used remnants from fabric stores, so at least you won’t have to feel too guilty dressing up your gizmo. You have several choices to choose from, all available for about $20. But the satisfaction of having an original case is priceless. Fancydscase

Your Eyes are Wonderful, But They Can’t See This

Posted on 27 July 2007 by Techie Diva

Can you see the difference between the shirt the girl’s wearing, and the one shown on the iPhone (show-offs)? The technology that makes that little lightning bolt appear in the digicam is called Kameraflage (camera+camouflage..clever!). With it, anyone is able to embed secret messages in clothing, ads, film, and whatever else they want (tattoos, anyone?). What’s sweet about it, is the message can only be seen through your digital camera, since our eyes are not able to pick up these invisible colors. Kameraflage has been secretly working on some high-tech threads for camera obsessive types who tune in to Flickr or YouTube, and come September, they’ll be available on their website. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to customize your message, but that would certainly be awesome. If you’re in San Diego on August 6, you better head over to SIGGRAPH to catch a glimpse of their new fashion collection. And make sure you send me some pics!

Transform Your Dog Into a Walking Jukebox

Posted on 26 July 2007 by Techie Diva

Is strapping your dog with a pair of speakers hooked to an iPod of bad taste or a genius idea?  Two New York designers created this plaid doggy vest with plenty of pockets to hold an iPod and two speakers on each side. You can even control the iPod remotely from the leash! It’s too cute, although I doubt the doggy would agree.Ipoddog

Temperature Monitor with Perks

Posted on 26 July 2007 by Cat

I purchased a temperature monitor for my computer after doing a few case modifications on it.  It was a small little unlit screen that I could never make out the numbers to find out the temperature of my processor.  Useless.

But this, this seems to be the way to go.  AeroCool’s PowerWatch has a neat display, easy to read front-panel readouts, brightly lit indicators (which only add to the allure of a case mod. in my opinion) with not only temperatures but fan speeds, too.  Utilizing both Celsius and Fahrenheit, you can be in the know about your PC.  Also has an alarm temperature warning in case you aren’t watching its every move.

In addition to those bonus features it already impresses me with, the PowerWatch has two USB ports and four card-reader slots to make things more convenient.  Using four different areas of your PC you can monitor all sorts of things while loading up things from your memory cards.

For around $75 you can add this to your list of gadgets you must have if you’re into building your own systems.  Comes in two color choices to make your design sleek.

Fujifilm FinePix Z for Fashion Zombies

Posted on 26 July 2007 by Techie Diva

Gizmodo has some juicy pics of the new Fujifilm FinePix Z in a some amazing vivid colors. The Z10fd camera is slim, has a 2.5-inch LCD display, slideshow mode, face detection, red eye removal, IR beaming, blogging mode, 3X optical zoom, and also does video. However, it won’t help you clean your room, prepare dinner, or help you score a date with the hot guy on your top 6 on MySpace. Bummer! It’s target audience is supposed to be you tech-savvy Gen ‘Z-ers’ (which stands for ZOMBIFIED). Seriously, the list of features is too long, so I’ll post it after the jump. You can get one this September in Wave Blue, Wasabi Green, Hot Pink, Sunset Orange, and Midnight Black for around $200. What a steal.

Tan While You Shower

Posted on 26 July 2007 by Techie Diva

What do Kevin Bacon, Shannon Elizabeth, and Rex Lee (Lloyd from Entourage) all have in common–besides being C-listers in Hollywood? They all signed a ProSun Sunshower, that was auctioned off at Richard Branson’s foundation-you know the one that does that thing, to benefit those people, but really don’t know how. Anywho, Shannon Elizabeth actually scored one, so we at least know how she gets that nice even tan. The ProSun is basically installed in your stand-up shower, and all you have to do is set the intensity and time of the tanning program before you step in. It’s supposed to be a great way to build a tan, and keep it without resorting to grueling hours outside in the sun-you know how much that sucks. It’s also supposed to be safer than direct UV light, but I’m sure that’s debatable. If you have the means, you can get yourself one for an unspecified amount of money over at ProSun. You can watch how it works here (warning! vid contains mild blurred-out nudity).Sunbath

Modernized TimeCap Necklace

Posted on 26 July 2007 by Techie Diva

How would you like to remembered after you die? In the spirit of keeping the time capsule idea alive, Cherif Morsi designed the TimeCap, a USB necklace that holds "digital" dust of the deceased person. Here the owner keeps a collection a the person’s pictures, videos, and other memorabilia that will only provoke happy memories of the recently departed. Maybe someday we’ll see this symbol of remembrance being worn by modern day mourners, but until then we still have pictures and blogs. Oh yeah, and cemetaries. It’s kinda chic, so I hope it’s not always associated with death. Sheesh!  Timecap

Samsung’s SS700 Concept, A Well-Rounded Digicam

Posted on 26 July 2007 by Techie Diva

Digital cameras are expensive, and so are digital frames. So what if we could get it all at once? Yanko Design recently featured a killer digicam that turns into a digital photo frame when you’re not snapping shots. Instead of hiding that camera in its case all year long, why not use it to display photos? I’m so down with that. The Samsung SS700 concept apparently has a 7.3 megapixel resolution, no menus, and no extra buttons. One side features a large LCD display to show off your snapshots, and the other side contains a fold out kick stand and lens. Just point, snap, and display your photos on a bigger screen. I love the design, I just hope Samsung puts this into production ASAP, cause I’ve been dying for a cool digital frame. What do you think? You like it?Samsungframedigicam
