iStyles late to 2007 Sleeve party

Posted on 21 May 2007 by girlrobot

istyle-2k7-collection

While the year 2007 is about to finish the first half and embark on the second half already, iStyles has just gotten its act together to offer more iPod sleeves for the 2007 iStyles Sleeve Collection that is more ambitious than last year’s outing by offering iPod Sleeves which come in more exotic materials along with the inclusion of a functional multi-purpose slit pocket. There are only limited quantities available for each sleeve, and all of them are handmade from scratch, featuring specially selected premium materials on the outside and micro-fiber cloth on the inside for enhanced protection.

The idea of micro-fiber cloth within is pretty neat, since it polishes and cleans your iPod to a certain extent each time you insert or remove it from the case. The multi-purpose slit is used to carry a pair of headphones or other small objects of comparable size. Each 2007 iStyles Sleeve retails for $9.99.

Pylones ushers summer with new iPod cases

Posted on 21 May 2007 by girlrobot

pylones

Shame on you if you have not yet gotten a case of some sort for your iPod. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a proud owner of a new iPod Video, iPod nano, or iPod Shuffle - there are plenty of iPod case manufacturers out there that offer a wide selection to choose from. If you’re currently in the mood for plenty of colors to cover your iPod’s nakedness and shame, why not give Pylones’ selection a try? This store offers an array of funky iPod cases spanning the 1G iPod nano, iPod Shuffle, and iPod Video range. Each case boasts a Click Wheel protector and a belt clip for easy portability. The designs are totally in vogue with summer, boasting fresh colors and innovative lines.

While there are still cases available for the 1G iPod nano and Shuffle models, ever wonder what will owners of the iPod mini do? That’s the drawback of electronics - once the current fad is done and over with, third party support gets more and more scarce, making it harder to find even accessories such as a funky case. Pick up one of these iPod cases today for $20.

Grohe Ondus AquaFountain brings digital to your bathroom

Posted on 21 May 2007 by girlrobot

aquafountain

So you’ve just moved into a spanking new apartment, and being the techie diva that you are, most of your home have been given the digital makeover, with the living room boasting the latest in high tech entertainment (Nintendo Wii, a widescreen LCD TV, a Home Theater PC, an iPod Speaker Dock, the works) while the entire home is enveloped in a WiFi blanket, giving you instant access to the Internet anytime, anywhere. Upon closer inspection, you noticed that your bathroom has failed to move forward in tandem with the digital revolution. What’s a girl supposed to do? Well, there is the Grohe Ondus AquaFountain for starters - this shower comes with an all-digital interface packed into a delicious matte black case.

Features include a backlit touchpad and an LCD display, enabling you to key in just the right temperature to wash the day’s blues away. In addition, the shower comes with a memory of previous temperatures, while a pause button interrupts your shower as you handle other important tasks around the home. The showerhead simulates a waterfall for a more natural feeling. The touchpad comes with other icons including a Male and Female icon, although I have no idea what those do. If you want to "Wow" your guests more than Windows Vista could ever do, you won’t go wrong with the Grohe Ondus AquaFountain.

Amycoll PS3 unveiled in China

Posted on 21 May 2007 by girlrobot

amycoll-ps3

Copyright and intellectual property laws in China could not get any looser, with rampant piracy of electronic goods being one of the results. Their latest effort is one that is stupendously horrifying, taking popular electronic items and integrating many functions onto a single device. The Amycoll PS3 is a cellphone that takes after the Sony PSP portable handheld in terms of design, while marrying the name of Samsung’s Anycall and Sony’s PS3 brand names. Features include a 2 megapixel camera behind and 1.3 megapixel in front (which also doubles up as a webcam, although 3G connectivity is highly doubtful), a microSD memory card slot for expansion options, audio and video playback (supported formats include MP3 and MPEG 4), a USB port, and a QVGA display.

The Amycoll PS3 might have a next gen console name attached to it, but it comes with pre-loaded emulators that do just Game Boy Color and SNES games. I guess plenty of people in China will be introduced to the wonders of Mario and his cohort should they plan to take up the Amycoll PS3 in huge numbers. Pricing details are unknown, but it shouldn’t cost more than a PSP.

Pileus umbrella jam packed with technology

Posted on 21 May 2007 by girlrobot

pileus-umbrellaAn umbrella is an umbrella, or is it not? This is a searching question you must ask yourself when you lay your eyes on the Pileus umbrella. While it looks like the generic black umbrella carried around when closed, opening it will definitely blow your mind away. Attached to the handle of the Pileus is a projector which throws images and information up on the umbrella itself when open. The Pileus also feature an integrated digital camera that is capable of taking snapshots on the go while uploading them to social site Flickr via an available WiFi Internet connection. In addition, users will also be able to watch photo streams on Flickr and video streams on YouTube.

There is also a 3D Map Navigation feature powered by Google Earth which uses GPS technology to detect your current location, turning that into relevant visual information via the projector to bring you a splitting image of the real world from above. There is no official word on whether a hardware manufacturer has already taken up the task of producing the Pileus umbrella on a commercial scale. It would be a pity if the answer was in the negative.

More iPod cases to grace your collection

Posted on 17 May 2007 by girlrobot

shades-ipod-cover

If you’ve just bought yourself or were given the iPod as a gift recently, hurry up and pick up an iPod case already if you haven’t yet done so. Apple’s media players are things of beauty, but they’re also pretty fragile and pick up nicks and scratches faster than a scratching post dipped in catnip. Shades has recently announced its new line of Shades iPod Cases, measuring a mere 0.4mm in thickness and yet protects your screen and Click Wheel. Made from polyurethane, the Shades iPod Cases come in a choice of nine different colors, including Cool Blue, Aqua, Rosy Red, Sunrise Orange, Violet, Serene Green, Hot Pink, Clear, and Midnight Black.

The iPod nano 2G range has two colors less to choose from though. Owners of 4G and 5G iPods as well as 1G and 2G iPod nanos will be able to pick up these beautifully colored cases for $16 and $13 respectively.

Kitty Keyboard Kover offers a compromise

Posted on 17 May 2007 by girlrobot

kitty-keyboard-kover

Having a cat in the house is a source of joy, but sometimes, as computer users can attest, our feline friends tend to jump onto our desk and plop themselves right on top of our keyboard whenever we have a 100-page report due tomorrow morning. Relocating the cat won’t help since it will return almost automatically, while keeping it outside your room can get quite irritating as it claws against your door, causing an irritating, non-stop grating noise which is enough to drive anyone insane. The Kitty Keyboard Kover provides a lifeline to this cat-walking problem, coming in the shape of a clear acrylic cover that sits above the keyboard.

This allows your cat to sleep and walk above the keyboard without distracting you from your typing task, although the swishing of Kitty’s tail right in front of the monitor might be a nuisance. The Kitty Keyboard Kover supports cats up to 16 pounds in weight and works great in preventing hair and dust from entering the keyboard. You can pick one up for $24.95 today. Garfield owners ought to take note!

Atari Candle Holder looks sweet

Posted on 17 May 2007 by girlrobot

atari-candle-holderThe Atari 2600. Who could forget that venerable console that had different types of controllers to cater for various games? While using the paddle is pretty neat, nothing quite beats the feeling of the classic Atari joystick. For those of you who grew up with classic games on that console will definitely love dressing up your home with this Atari candle holder from artist Mixko. Featuring the base of the joystick made from ceramic, this candle holder has an indentation in the middle for you to place a candle - preferably a scented one.

Unfortunately, Mixko is not about to put this up for sale at the moment, so you might have to bust out the old Atari joystick from an attic and create a mold yourself if you want one. Pretty neat idea though, especially if you and your sweetheart are video game fans when you were still wearing diapers as wasted your summers away in front of the telly and console instead of running about in a nearby field.

ChargePod

Posted on 17 May 2007 by Annie-san

With such an influx of devices that flood our homes and work areas, charging the devices has been one of the biggest headaches of mobile devices, I think.  In comes a neat idea…though I’m unsure how easily it can be put to use just yet.

The ChargePod will allow you to charge up to six devices with cords and adapters to help you on your way to charging bliss.  MP3 players, cellphones, hand held devices and more can all be made to charge on the ChargePod setup with little or no work.  Just a little organization.

As a central charging hub, the device comes with different versions of power adapters that are controlled by a system called "voltage regulator technology" which allows the device to make sure that your stuff is only getting charged with the amount needed…increasing the life of your gadgets.  A blue indicator light will let you know when the devices are charging and keep your gadgets as happy as you are to have them.
