Triple-threat PSP case and bag

Posted on 25 May 2007 by girlrobot

triple-threat

While the Sony PSP isn’t exactly doing gangbusters worldwide when compared to it’s main competitor, the Nintendo DS Lite, it still shifts a fair amount of units each week to warrant the development of third party accessories. Since it is a relatively fragile piece of technical wizardry, a case for your PSP is almost a prerequisite with each console purchase since scratches tend to gravitate to its surface all too easily. PS Pictogram from Japan has recently unveiled the X-girl × PS Pictogram × Genki Rockets × Porter PSP case and purse too keep you and your PSP happy.

You can tell from the name that this is not a single effort, as PS Pictogram has teamed up with luggage manufacturer Porter as well as dance group Genki Rockets (of Lumines II fame on said handheld console). Both case and purse will retail for approximately $220 after conversion, which is way pricier compared to other more bland alternatives in the market. Have you dressed up your PSP yet? If not, will you pick either one of these up?

And the Geekiest Tattoo Goes To…

Posted on 25 May 2007 by Techie Diva

Jolietattoocoordinates I4U points out that Angelina Jolie now had four lines of numbers tattooed on her arm.  As we all know, these numbers are coodinates of where the children were born. Apparently, these four lines of gibberish (to most of us anyway) has sparked interest in the coordinate system, and people are consulting Google Earth for the exact location. Ten points to whoever gives me the exact location of these coordinates.

Here are the numbers:

N11° 33′ 0" E104° 51′ 00" - Maddox
N09° 02′ 00" E038° 45′ 00" - Zahara
S22° 40′ 26" E014° 31′40" - Shiloh Nouvels
N10° 40′ 00" E106° 41′40" - Pax Thien

Segway Mom

Posted on 24 May 2007 by Techie Diva

Matt over at Crunchgear found this picture of a mom pushing a stroller while riding on her Segway. That just doesn’t look safe, and I imagine it takes a lot of coordination to be able to do this.  What do you think? Could a Segway stroller combo be in the future? Anyone in Seattle seen this ladySegwaymom? I’d love to see a video of this…

Lenovo ThinkPads leather bound?

Posted on 24 May 2007 by girlrobot

thinkpad-reserveLenovo’s line of ThinkPad computers have always been synonymous with the business world, featuring men and women in power suits, toting a ThinkPad in one hand and a briefcase in another. Lenovo is currently drumming up interest in its line of ThinkPad notebooks by offering a teaser site that showcases the ThinkPad Reserve Edition notebook. While word from Lenovo regarding the specifications of the Reserve Edition is as scarce as finding a living specimen of a dinosaur, the entire website points the audience toward a leather clad notebook.

Some rumored specifications ought to accompany any impending hardware release and this is no different. The ThinkPad Reserve Edition will most likely feature a Santa Rosa Core 2 Duo processor from Intel, and that alone translates to a pretty impressive business machine. Do you like the smell of leather on your computer? I know that it adds an air of luxury to the entire setup, but I personally feel that computers get outdated too fast for anyone to appreciate it coming in cowhide.

Malignant Mole Bikini a novel concept

Posted on 24 May 2007 by girlrobot

malignant-mole-bikini

Fiona Carswell, an artist and graphic designer, has certainly come up with a very interesting fashion device in the form of the Malignant Mole Bikini. This sexy piece of swim wear actually starts to display patches of malignant melanoma the longer you stay under the sun, giving you the signal that it is time to find some shaded relief in order to avoid developing skin cancer down the road many years from today. This is a neat idea, and with summer just around the corner, it makes perfect sense to have these sold in stores as everyone goes out to get some much needed sunlight.

I must say that having moles appearing on your swimsuit could seem like a fashion faux pas, as from far it looks as though you have spilled some BBQ sauce on it and failed to get the stain washed off. I wonder whether the same technology can also be applied in children’s clothing, helping parents identify the time when their kids need to get indoors.

Automatic Pet Feeder

Posted on 24 May 2007 by girlrobot

automatic-petfeederAre you a cat or a dog person? Regardless of either pet, one of the main concerns that prevent you from taking long breaks at the Bahamas with your girlfriends would be the well being of Fido or Fluffy. Unless you trust your neighbors to take good care of your beloved four legged friend, who else is going to feed them? Why not pick up this Automatic Pet Feeder that will certainly take a whole load of worry from your brow, featuring a trio of compartments for you to store up to three days’ worth of food at best. I suppose this works best with small to mid-sized dogs as larger breeds will probably end up hungry after a couple of days.

The Automatic Pet Feeder also boasts a voice recorder that can record up to 20 seconds of a loving message in your voice, enabling you to help your pet beat the blues whenever you’re not around. This voice recording will only be played back during feeding time. It is powered by a quartet of C batteries. The Automatic Pet Feeder retails for AU$39.95. . Just don’t take a break that’s longer than 3 days.

Keep your feet warm with a…powerbrick?

Posted on 24 May 2007 by girlrobot

custom-powerbrick

Things can and will definitely get deathly cold when winter falls upon us, which is why it is essential to have a proper heating system in your home in order not to freeze your butt off. For those Scrooges who want to scrimp on their heating, they can always do work on their laptop and using the powerbrick to keep their feet warm. This is definitely a novel idea chanced upon by Clement Eloy who has taken a pair of slippers, throwing in a powerbrick sized slot inside to keep your toes warm and toasty despite the freezing temperature outside.

The downside to this solution is the inability to control the exact temperature that you need. I wonder whether the same concept can be applied to a desktop computer, channeling hot air from the fan just behind the power supply to your feet to keep you warm. Alternatively, there is nothing better than a warm blanket, a mug of hot chocolate, and a cat curling up at your feet while purring away as you hold a good book in your hand.

Pico WiFi Radio free from wires

Posted on 24 May 2007 by girlrobot

pico-wifi-radioI love Internet radio as there are way less commercials on the station when compared to terrestrial radio. Unfortunately, to tune in an Internet radio channel often requires me to remain within a vicinity of a computer or notebook - something I cannot do 24 hours a day. Thankfully there are inventions such as a WiFi Radio to keep you entertained over a wireless Internet connection, but you are still shackled by the WiFi Radio’s power cord. Enter the Pico WiFi Radio from Revo of Scotland - this portable audio entertainer comes with an integrated rechargeable battery pack, ensuring you no longer need to be limited by the length of your power cable in order to enjoy Internet radio.

The Pico WiFi Radio comes with a two-line display and can stream up to 5,500 digital radio stations via broadband, and it also works great playing back tunes from your networked computer. Features include an auxiliary input socket and a cable that turns it into an impromptu speaker for the iPod. This splashproof device also boasts an FM receiver to keep you entertained when you’ve wandered beyond the WiFi range. The Pico WiFi Radio will retail for £149.99 when it is released this mid-July.

Suono unveils cloth cases for DS Lite

Posted on 24 May 2007 by girlrobot

suono-dsl-caseWhile the Nintendo DS Lite is already sexy on its own, Japanese manufacturer Suono has decided to come up with a case design of its own to add to this hot selling handheld console’s appeal. While made from cloth that does not protect your DS Lite from the dreaded hinge crack (I’ve cracked mine accidentally while trying to open a door by barging in, where my Ice Blue DS Lite ended up as a sandwich between my thigh and the door), at least it helps keep unwanted scratches and nicks that are equally painful to look at.

Made from cotton, each of these cases come with a velcro strip that ensures your precious DS Lite remains in place while you keep it inside a handbag. The only visible drawback to such a sweet looking cloth case would be the $30 price tag slapped on it, and that is without shipping included. However, the wide variety of designs and styles could end up tempting you to part with your hard earned money.
