Mechanical Mustang aids your fight against flab

Posted on 27 April 2007 by girlrobot

mechanical-mustangRemember the good old days when Mustang meant a muscle car? How times have changed, with the Mechanical Mustang offering you a ride but in a different way. This device is meant for those who are looking into different ways and means to obtain victory in their fight against flab. Touted to be a high energy workout machine, the Mechanical Mustang simulates your body in the same manner one experiences when riding a horse. Since there are sources from Osim claiming that horse riding is healthy, and hence their iGallop, the Mechanical Mustang operates on the same principle.

Featuring a high powered motor with an intensity that can be adjusted according to your preference, the Mechanical Mustang promises you will start seeing results in front of the mirror with as little as five minutes on it every day for the entire month. At $399.95 a pop, they had better back those words or there’ll be a whole bunch of disgruntled customers filing lawsuits.

USB Keyholder ensures keys don’t go missing

Posted on 27 April 2007 by girlrobot

usb-keychain

Keeping track of your keys at home can get quite confusing at times, with so many different keychains to remember, and the central keyholder in the living room gets messy after some time, not to mention families of miniature dust bunnies moving in along with other loose change and bits of paper that somehow made their way there without you realizing it. What better way than having the USB Keyholder to keep everything together in proper order?

Hooked up to the wall like a regular hook panel, the USB Keyholder works in a totally different manner, doing away with hooks and replacing them with USB ports instead. These USB ports are not wired to any central network (although it’d be cool - perhaps we can see this feature in future iterations?), but are instead used to keep your keys in place. Of course, this means each of your keys much use a USB connector keychain for the system to work effectively.

Barbie Girl grooves to MP3 tunes

Posted on 27 April 2007 by girlrobot

barbie-mp3-playerMattel, the toy company famous for its range of Barbie dolls will be unveiling a brand new MP3 player that targets the tween markets. This MP3 player not only plays music as it doubles up as a hybrid fashion doll as well where you (as the parent) will be able to dress up this doll with optional $10 accessory packs including pets and other accessories just like a normal doll. No idea on how these extras will be used - are they snap-on pieces?

Aptly named the Barbie Girl MP3 player, each 4.5" device comes with a paltry 512MB of space to store those sugary sweet commercial tunes that you hear on any top 40 playlist. Thankfully, Mattel has thoughtfully included a miniSD memory card slot that can hold another 2GB worth of music. Each Barbie Girl MP3 player retails for $60 and includes a belt clip, earbuds, and a storage case of some sort.

Tykho Bulb Lamp gets all squishy

Posted on 26 April 2007 by girlrobot

tykho-bulbThe Tykho Bulb Lamp is one home improvement idea that will definitely bring some much needed color into any dreary room, and what makes it stand out from the rest would be the soft silicon rubber exterior that houses a cool fluorescent tube light source within. This means you will be able to press the exterior in pretty much the same way as that of a baloon without any adverse effects. The Tykho Bulb Lamp can be powered by a quartet of AA batteries or via an AC adapter. If you’re going to stick to the former, I’d suggest you pick up a rechargeable battery set to keep the environment green.

Another advantage of having the Tykho Bulb Lamp would be saving yourself and the rest of your family members the dangers of getting cut should a wayward football or your husband’s misdirected golf shot knock it over the table. All you need to do then would be to replace the fluorescent tube light source and life can resume normally. The Tykho Bulb Lamp retails for approximately $60 a pop and comes in a wide variety of bright colors.

Solar Swimsuit to power gizmos

Posted on 26 April 2007 by girlrobot

truimph-solar-bikiniTruimph International has collaborated with Conergy to create the innovative Solar Swimsuit, enabling women who are out to get a tan in the future to keep their gadgets and gizmos charged. Of course, while this would mean exposing precious devices such as the cellphone and iPod to the hot sun, at least you get to keep them juiced and ready to function at your beck and call. Of course, the Solar Swimsuit won’t be able to do enough to store enough energy to power something energy intensive such as a laptop.

What do you think of this development? I personally think that having water and electronics meet is pure folly since both of them aren’t exactly on talking terms. Still, it would be a good time for iPod and cellphone accessory manufacturers to take advantage of the situation by coming up with a range of waterproof accessories just in case the Solar Swimsuit makes it big this summer.

Plantronics gear up for Mother’s Day

Posted on 26 April 2007 by girlrobot

plantronics-explorer-330With Mother’s Day approaching, Plantronics decided to take advantage of the situation by introducing the Plantronics Dusty Pink Explorer 330 Bluetooth Headset. The name itself gives away the color of this Bluetooth enabled device, and it ought to be appealing to those who are naive enough to fall for a new coat of paint. Other than the pink color, the Dusty Pink Explorer 330 Bluetooth Headset is identical in every other way to a normal Explorer 330 Bluetooth Headset.

For those who are pre-occupied with specifications, the Dusty Pink Explorer 330 Bluetooth Headset comes with a rechargeable battery that offers up to eight hours’ worth of talktime between chargers, and fits onto either ear comfortable thanks to the adjustable ear piece. Features include all call features, ranging from volume, answer/end call, last-number redial, and voice-activated dialing in a single button. The Plantronics Dusty Pink Explorer 330 Bluetooth headset retails for approximately $80 and has a range of more than 10 meters.

Little Piggy Foot Massager for a soothing experience

Posted on 25 April 2007 by girlrobot

piggy-foot-massagerEveryone knows how strenuous a day at work can be, especially those who are in the service industry and required to stay on their feet most of the time, keeping a perpetual smile while taking in the occasional abuse from rude and plain obnoxious customers. There is nothing quite like kicking back your shoes after a long day at work and having those poor feet massaged. This is where the Little Piggy Foot Massager comes in handy, boasting a cute design with cozy fleece lining.

A handheld control panel allows you to control the settings of the Little Piggy Foot Massager, although with two intensity levels, you won’t be able to get the customization available on more expensive automated massage products. The Little Piggy Foot Massager is flexible enough to house feet of all sizes, and the lining can be removed for washing to upkeep a certain degree of hygiene. You can’t tote this £24.99 device with you since it is mains operated.

Shredding the Days Away

Posted on 25 April 2007 by Techie Diva

Susanna Heinrich created the Charon_shredder as part of a set of fictional tools for those who have embraced hibernation as a common practice and efficient method to delay aging.

"The Charon_Shredder is a device that makes past time tangible. It is a hybrid between calendar, clock and waste producing automaton. It has no on/off-button, thus it is unstoppable, just like time. It features the 365 days of the year represented on a paper-roll. The paper-roll is led through a hacked paper-shredder, which is programmed to use exactly 24 hours to shred one "day".Calshredder

Hilary Duff is a Techie Diva

Posted on 25 April 2007 by Techie Diva

HillaryGeekSugar points to this cool interview Tom Samiljan from AOL Switched did with Hilary Duff. I have to say, I was totally surprised to hear her even mention a Slingbox. It amuses me to hear celebs talk tech, especially when they don’t know what the hell they’re talking about, but I have to say Hilary did pretty well. She switched from a Sidekick to a Blackberry, trolls YouTube, has a Mac, and wants to get her hands on a Slingbox. She’s also pretty tech savvy, and says she’ll wait to see how people like the iPhone before getting one. See even Hilary knows it’s better to wait for the second or third version. Although, I have to say, I don’t think I have her discipline. I’ll be the first one running to the Apple store to get my iPhone in June whether it works perfectly or not so I can bring you a full review. Ah, the sacrifices of early adopters.

Wii-Like Cellphones Debut in Japan

Posted on 25 April 2007 by Techie Diva

This is incredibly cool, yet terrifying. Japan’s NTT DoCoMo is launching a new line of cellphones with motion sensing capabilities starting next month. The 904i-series includes a phone called the P904i that will work like a Nintendo Wii controller. According to DoCoMo’s Managing Director, mobile phone gamers will be able to use the cellphone’s camera to play boxing games, since it picks up the player’s movements as he ducks or punches. You can see him on this video playing Katamari Damacy. He said 68 games will be released at launch time. The phones all have different capabilities, but all of them will be capable of switching between two-phone numbers/email accounts, banking abilities, and music subscription programs. Sounds like a great idea, until someone punches you in the eye while playing a boxing match on the subway, no? What do you think? Good or bad idea?Motionsensing Press Release
