Part 3 (of 3) Switching to a Mac

Posted on 18 February 2007 by Cat

Part 1 mentioned how you can continue using your Windows skills by installing Parallels or Bootcamp on your Mac. In Part 2, I gave you some easy tips on how to convert yourself by getting used to Mac OS hotkeys.  Part 3 of switching to the Mac, is an informational guide of some of the cool applications that are available for your Mac.

I’m going to just touch up on a few of the applications, but Peter Baer wrote a blog entry of tons of applications for a Mac in: Business, Communication, Development, Editors, iTunes/iPod, Miscellaneous, Multimedia, Networking, Organizing, System, Utility, Web, Widgets.

If you have any applications that you like to use with your Mac, let me know! I’m interested in hearing about them.

Samsung Digicam With 3G

Posted on 17 February 2007 by Annie-san

Samsung has released a sports version of their digital camera line that includes 3G connectivity.  The VLUU i70 Digicam has a 7.2 megapixel CCD, a 3" LCD and doubles as a media player with HSPDA included for 3G high speed connections.

This high speed connection will enable you to upload photos instantly to the Internet (with a service plan that is separately signed up for) and share them with friends and family almost as fast as you can take them.  There is also an option to text message on the camera and it seems full of extended features we haven’t seen on digital cameras just yet.

That’s right, the rumor is that Samsung will release this camera soon and you’ll get to see just how easy it is to share photos and keep in touch with others while at the same time, listening to your favorite music.  I’m not sure how well a digital camera with these options will sell in comparison to a cellphone but hey, it’s worth a peek!

Ipod Cozy Tutorials

Posted on 17 February 2007 by Felicia Sanchez

Ok, so you’ve gotten your iPod for christmas or vdays and now you’re looking for something cute to carry it in. What better way to keep your iPod protected and stylin’ than with your own homemade iPod cozy! I’ve collected a list of the cutest ones you can make yourself, some of which even the crafty newbie can handle.

Felt iPod Cozy - This one is not that hard and doesn’t even require a sewing machine. If you don’t know how to hand-sew, I guarantee you can learn in just a few minutes. Check out this easy tutorial on how to hand sew felt. I love this one because it’s simple and easy to make personal. You can add hearts, stars, or whatever suits you!

Domokun Ipod Case - This tutorial is so cute, I’m surprised someone hasn’t made the real thing to sell! In case you don’t know who Domokun is, he’s a famous Japanese character made famous by this picture.

Also, check out this other great ipod cozy if you’re handy with the sewing machine.

And lastly, if you’re not into sewing, but you love to knit. Try this tutorial for a super unique SquiPod Cozy.

Pink At The Gym

Posted on 16 February 2007 by Annie-san

Ok, one more!  This is a pink gym kit that will keep your desire to exercise up.  It has a few necessary items in it and they are all included in a nice compact clutch bag to make it easy to carry in and out of the gym.

With a pedometer that has an integrated FM radio and headphones, a micro-fibre towel, and a 500 ml water bottle that also has a detachable belt and carry pack.  Not only those items but also a the case has compartments for your gym membership card, mobile phone, locker money and a key holder.

What more do you need while working out?

Another Pink Kit

Posted on 16 February 2007 by Annie-san

This one’s for TRAVEL!  And what Techie Diva doesn’t take a few trips a year to those lovely gadget conventions?

Enjoy them even more with the pink travel kit that includes many needed items.  A collapsible steam iron, a powerful mini hairdryer (why use the white hotel one?) with plug adapters for both.

It also has a passport holder, baggage tag and a set of bottles for your shampoo, conditioner or other needed liquids.

Also, you get a 3-digit padlock so you can lock it up in your pink case and keep your personal items away from prying eyes.  I think one of the best things in the case is the steam iron.  I hate trying to pack so that nothing gets wrinkled…it’s nearly impossible!

Pink Car Kit

Posted on 16 February 2007 by Annie-san

Girlie gadgets are always rearing their head and many know the market is growing.  Not just because it’s pink does it make it for girls only…but sometimes what is IN the product.

This tool set includes a three-way multi-torch (it’s pink, yes) with a flashing hazard lamp and 360° directional spotlight and fluorescent strip (magnetically attachable).  An emergency break-out hammer with LED light and safety blade in case you need to cut your seat belt.

It also has a well thought-out addition of an emergency mobile phone charger with adapters that can be used with most Motorola, Nokia, Siemens & Sony Ericsson model cellphones.  My kit has that missing and I think that would be a good addition to it.

Also included are jump leads, notepad and pencil, ice scraper, disposable hygienic gloves, car tax disc holder, air freshener (not really an emergency item, is it?) and a soft pink case.  I hope there is enough room in the pretty pink bag for me to add things.  You can never be too prepared, right?

Come On Baby, Light My Lips

Posted on 16 February 2007 by Techie Diva

Golightonmylips_smallI don’t know whether to rejoice or cut all my hair off like that crazy Bridezilla chick on YouTube, but is the whole LED and Swarovski crystal fad a little too freaking outta control? Ok, we get it. We like cheeky stuff with lights, bling, mirrors, and cute LEDs. The reason some of us even allowed the use of gaudy, blingy, and ostentatious use of these materials on every day items was to keep our men away from them, thus eliminating the slight chance that they might claim ownership of our precious gizmos. Maybe someday, we’ll take over the car industry, and the military–although I didn’t have much success with that. But for now, lets keep the bling off the make-up shall we? Please. It really serves no purpose.

Skin for Your Wii

Posted on 16 February 2007 by Techie Diva

DecalgirlEwww, not the best title, but I’ll keep it. GeekSugarlicious post on DecalGirl’s super awesome Wii Skins in bright colors definitely got my attention. I mean look at that thing, it’s so…pink.

I absolutely love this skin, and had I kept the Wii I’m now giving away to one of you, I might just have gotten one. If you’re lucky enough to have your own Wii, and feel like pinkie-fying it, then by all means shell out the $15 even if it’s to have others ooohing and ahhhing over it. Guys, macho men, metrosexuals, there are lots of skins to choose from, so don’t let the pink version turn you off.
