Are you Too Close to Your Computer?

January 31, 2007 by Techie Diva

Posturereminder Seeing that we spend more time with our computers than with our significant others, it’s about time we came across technology designed to tell us when we’re getting too close, literally. Ubergizmo introduced me to the Visomate USB Vision and Posture reminder, a USB powered gadget that will flash an LED light alerting you to back off or prepare yourself for a life of pain. You see, the VISOMATE was created for all you Internet-obsessed folks who disregard your Mother’s advice about sitting too close to monitor, which according to the site, leads to "acummulative eye and neck pain."

The gadget has a sensor that detects the distance between you and the monitor, as well as your sitting posture. It will indicate this by flashing colored lights: a blue flashing light means your posture is properly aligned, and red flashing light means you’re too close to the monitor. It’s not to obtrusive either, and sits quietly on top of your monitor, until you give in to bad posture habits, that is.

The Mouse Of The Future

January 31, 2007 by Annie-san

Self-proclaimed the "ultimate weapon for PC gaming", this mouse has lots of features you could use in many situations.  Integrating gaming components and the accuracy and precision of a mouse, this might just impress you.

This mouse uses USB 2.0 for speed, a high grade precision laser sensor, up to 4,000 dpi which can be controlled during game play and the design is perfect for long-term use.  It has PlasmaGlyde mouse feet and a non-slip high injection mold rubber grip.

The mouse comes with a base that illuminates and the mouse plugs directly into that base for power.  With red, green and blue colors, this is a great addition to a case mod. or serious gamers’ collection.  Fanatec has great ideas but one wonders why this wasn’t created as a wireless option.

Motorola’s Linux Powered Phone

January 31, 2007 by Annie-san

Although Motorola has had Linux smartphones on their list of products for some time, so far, they have been more popular in Asian circles.  Now they have a model E6 that is targeted to users that need multimedia functions.

Motorola has a slight comparison in design to the black RAZR but this ROKR E6 is slightly longer but very thin.  Coming in at 111mm x 51.5mm (4.4" x 2"), you can see the comparison.  How thin is it?  The thickness is only 14.5mm (.6") so you can see it’s easily stored away.

This phone includes an SD slot and 3 keys that are dedicated to music playback and options.  A nice cyan blue backlight (similar, once again, to the RAZR) yet it’s not popular for finding keys by touch.

This phone does include a touch screen on the front and that will be a feature many look for in future phones.  A stylus and USB port for data and power is included on the bottom and the standard 3.5mm stereo headphone jack is located at the top.

Rumor, rumor…Engadget Mobile got a screen shot of an LG Chocolate phone in Strawberry expected to make its debut on February 4th–10 days before Valentine’s Day. I can assure you Verizon will be the carrier, and unless you fork over $99 and commit yourself to a 2-year contract, you won’t be getting one. And really, do you really want to sign up with Verizon, when the iPhone will be on Cingular? Either way, we’ll find out more about this pinkie phone in a few more days.

Hello Kitty USB FootWarmers

Hkfootwarmers_1One man’s hell, is another girls heaven. Hello Kitty Hell is written by a man whose wife is obsessed with all things Hello Kitty. He shares with us how his wife got him a pair of these HK USB footwarmers in fuzzy pink to save his feet. How? Japanese houses that lack central heating are to blame for this man’s newfound misery. His wife presented him with pink footwarmers arguing that "getting a feet warmer would save a lot in energy costs as it is the feet that really get cold in winter." Somebody please tell this man feetwarmers are available in different colors, especially in Japan, land of the USB feetwarmer mania.

Vibrating Specs Keep You Awake

Vision Optic may have developed the best pair of glasses guaranteed to help you kids stay awake during those terrible early classes. Mydo Bururu glasses are designed to vibrate if they ever detect your head dropping below a certain level. You can even adjust just how low you want your head to hang before a little motor kicks into vibrating mode. Unfortunately for you, they’re only available in Japan for about $370. Yeah, and they don’t even hook up to your iPod video. Mydo_bururu_glasses_2
