The guys over at Gizmodo found the Sony Ericsson W43S via TecheBlog which is worthy of female (and male) praise. The phone is only available in Japan (of course) but it has taken personalization to a whole new level. Forget bling and laser-etched tattoos, the W43S has 12 built-in LEDs that light up in dark rooms. That’s great and all, but what are you really getting besides a cool outer shell? The phone packs a music player, 2 megapixel camera, 42MB of memory plus a slot for a Memory Stick Pro and a 2.7 LCD display. Me like it a lot!
It’s really just a concept design for a Core 77 Design competition, but this LED nose ring would be a great idea for geeky punk rockers. Imagine going to a nocturnal rock fest, and standing out with an blinking LED nose ring. Every time you exhale, a delicate fan transforms your breath into electric energy to power the glowing stud. It’s a strange design really, but one that is surely feasible since there is already an LED belly ring available that does the same thing. No breathing required for this one. [Via Coolbuzz]
With technology advancing as fast as it is, we tend to forget about the old technology and what happens to it. The U.N. estimates that worldwide we’re disposing of 20 to 50 million tons of electronic equipment each year. What makes this kind of waste a problem are the unforeseen dangers that lie within. Each piece of equipment can contain numerous toxic and hazardous materials including lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury and many synthetic chemicals that are persistent pollutants. This means that the pollution can stick around for years and accumulate in animals and people and can cause serious health problems.
Elizabeth Grossman has a book called High Tech Trash that discusses the many dangers of this “e-waste.” I personally never thought about all the things that can possibly hurt the environment with my old gadgets being thrown out. If you are interested in learning about all the hazards, then a copy of this book would probably be a great start. [Island Press] [UberGizmo]
That’s right…the new styled RAZR is going to include tattoo artwork from Miami Ink’s crew.
Master tattoo artist, Ami James, will be doing the honors and the Schaumburg technology company will begin selling the phones around Christmas.
After brainstorming sessions on how to extend the market on the RAZR, Motorola executives have taken another step in the design. After breaking sales records with the original design and then extending into other colors, the Motorola has been one of the most popular phones out there.
As expected, in many groups the cellphone has become an extension of the person. A part of their everyday style and is even dressed up to match what some wear out on weekends. I have seen charms and lights and extras with so much flair lately, that this idea Motorola has is probably going to work.
The Margarita King teaches us how to shake a margarita while he’s backstage at the Backstage Creations BET Awards Lounge. You can see he was keeping Bentley happy while he was visiting the lounge. You can also see me here trying out the Turbosonic machine that helps you burn up to 150 calories just by standing on it for ten minutes. I think I got a good workout that day purely on vibrations. You can read more about it on this post.
From the monitor display to the keyboard, mouse and speakers…this iMac concept looks like great eye-candy! Completely see-thru when turned off and neatly displayed when turned on, this iMac is sleek in design.
Conceptualized by illustrator and designer Adam Benton, this goes to show us all that anything is possible when it comes to design and possibilities. Wireless and boasting a 30" screen, many assume the screen would include touch-sensitive capabilities.
The keyboard shows with a lighted addition (they make those but I haven’t seen a clear setup yet, they glow green or blue instead) and the speakers are very small tubes on the sides.
Yes, you remember the typewriter don’t you? I never had to use one for business purposes but I had one in my house that I put to use while in elementary school. This was pre-computer for me and it got me started with fast typing skills.
Now they show it as a very vintage look to include typewriter key charms with a stylish necklace. The ‘typewriter necklace‘ will give you something to talk about when you wear it. You can choose from any letter of the alphabet and the style of the key is from the 30’s or 40’s typewriter (I didn’t use one that old) key.
Bracelets, multi-colored keys, cufflinks and a larger type key are many of the choices they give you when it comes to style on this site. Decently priced, they make for a great gift…for the older geek in your life.
The Harmon Kardon’s iPod Bridge adds some cool functionality to your usual iPod routine. You have your list of music and you want to relax? No problem. Choose your music via a remote control like it’s supposed to be done.
Convenience in a relatively small package. Drop the inconvenience of a wheel control and take your listening to a new level. Make things easier by using the Harmon Kardon iPod Bridge using the AVR 40 series receiver remote using your television screen or directly to the receiver itself.
The design looks sleek and if Harmon Kardon lives up the their name, the speakers sound incredible.
How many wheels does your mouse have? Well, the Logitech VX and MX Revolution mice have been engineered with more. Not only do they have an extra wheel placed under your thumb, but they have made them out of a heavy-feeling alloy. When you use the mouse, apparently you can spin the wheel and it will move smoothly for up to seven seconds before coming to a stop.
Two on the MX and only the usual one on the VX gives you choices you might want. The VX includes a switch to toggle between modes (the application and your systems settings) while the MX offers that with the second wheel.
We’ve just gotten out of the mice genre in which you had a ball to clean each week and now they are adding more parts to mess with. It looks incredible but I’m not sure how much sense it makes to fork over $79-$99 for a mouse. Take care when choosing to buy this and make sure you know what you are investing in.
I tend to like Logitech products so I might look into this type of mouse later on.
