I must’ve missed this whole story, but an article on Yahoo sent shivers down my spine. I mean, come on, shoving a cellphone down someone’s throat is just sick, sick, sick. I want to think this is an April Fool’s joke, but it’s July (right?). It appears a certain Marlon Brando (see why I think it’s a joke) Gill was charged with first-degree assult back in December because he is suspected of shoving a cellphone down his girl’s throat. The girlfriend Abell was too drunk to remember how a phone became lodged in her throat, and has been giving inconsistent accounts to the jury of what happened before she was taken to the emergency room that night. Whether the boyfriend did it or she did it so he wouldn’t find out about her infidelity, remains to be seen. And how can you not remember how a whole phone got in your throat? Wow, I never thought I’d live the day to read this story. This totally tops any story I’ve ever written about cellphone mishaps. Let’s just hope Naomi Campbell doesn’t get any ideas.

All the world is a computer desktop and we are just icons sitting on top of it. Well this may not necessarily be true, but looking at these pictures, it sure does look like it. These pictures are not photoshopped. The giant cursor in the pictures is actually a kite. This kite has special invisible fittings, quad-line control and opposed-bow tensioning to allow the shape of a desktop cursor to actually fly. Developed by Tim Elverston, this unique kite is sure to get people in the park talking about the cursor in the sky. Unfortunately it is not available, as of yet, for sale.

A picture might be worth a thousand words, but getting a clear picture is priceless !!! No really it’s free!!! Ever try to capture a physical record of a historic or scenic spot during your vacation, only to find it littered with other tourists? or just find it impossible to capture your picture without someone being constantly in your crosshairs? Well there are two ways to combat this problem? One, if you’re a pro with Photoshop (or can find a friend who is), you can digitally remove the offenders or two send your pics in for free to the Tourist Remover service.

We all remember playing Monopoly as kids. Sometimes we would even pretend the money was real. Those days are going to change. Parker Brothers and VISA are developing fake credit cards to use with newer versions of Monopoly. In order to add or subtract money from the cards, the newer games will be equipped with a calculator that will be able to read and write to the fake cards. Parker Brothers says that they are upgrading to move with the times. In some surveys, 70% of adults use cash less than they did ten years ago. So I guess the times are changing. With change, there is always a price. The new version of the game will cost about twice as much as the classic version. If you like the classic version, better get one now before they are phased out completely.

The RAZR is soooo yesterday. Check out the five new products Motorola has announced:
Motorola MOTOKRZR
Available in both GSM and CDMA, the MOTOKRZR will be
available globally during the second half of 2006, regardless of their network
preference. The GSM MOTOKRZR features a high resolution 2.0 megapixel camera,
stereo Bluetooth audio, an updated phone directory and new messaging
applications. While both versions offer integrated music players and expandable
memory up to 1GB, the CDMA MOTOKRZR beats to a slightly different drum boasting
touch-sensitive music controls, advanced EVDO data services* and location-based
services capabilities.
Motorola MOTORIZR
Merging an innovative
slider design with an impressive feature set which is accessible either opened
or closed, the MOTORIZR offers intuitive functionality. This slider optimizes
on-the-go imaging with its expansive landscape display, 2.0 megapixel camera and
programmed point-and-shoot keys. The built-in music player supports a variety of
formats and its video capabilities complete this dynamic package.
Motorola H601 and H800
Reflecting the new handsets look and
feel, the Motorola H601 and H800 Bluetooth headsets bring advancements in talk
time, sound clarity, upgraded finishes and laser-etched graphics. Influenced by
MOTOKRZR, the Motorola H601 is sleek and functional, offering optimal comfort.
The Motorola H800 debuts with a unique sliding mechanism replicating the
MOTORIZR. Both offerings exemplify how Motorola extends its design philosophy
across its entire portfolio.

iPods are so popular, yet so expensive. Designsojourn designed a fun t-shirt for those too poor to buy an iPod. Even if you’re an iPod owner, you can still support the iPoor clan who couldn’t afford afford those damn little white players we’ve grown to love so much, even if they sold their soul. Would it be cruel to get one for my cheapskate friend who is too poor to get an iPod? Damn, I guess that would be cold.

"It’s hot," is the understatement of the year. Dude, it’s scorching. Even here in the usually mild Pacific Northwest, it’s expected to go well over the 100 degree mark today. Oh joy. So what are you supposed to do when you don’t have a/c in your office and you’ve tried everything else? Thankfully, small and portable a/c units have come a long way in the last few years. Our company finally bit the bullet and went out and bought a couple of Sharp portable A/C units. The new CV-P10LC Portable Air Conditioner is affordable and easy to install, as well as easy to move from room to room. It’s ultra quiet and can be used as a dehumidifier to remove up to 60 pints of moisture from the air in a single day. The unit also features Plasmacluster (TM) Ion Technology which releases positive and negative ions into the air. It includes a fully featured remote control with LCD display that allows you to control the unit from anywhere in the room. The flexible exhaust hose and window adapter kit allow window installation and venting of the hot air, while keeping rain and insects out. [Product]
If the $600 price tag for the Sharp a/c is too rich for your blood, you might give the Desktop Personal Air Conditioner a shot. For under $25, it might give you the some relief from the heat at a more affordable price. The desktop unit uses an ice and fan system to help cool down your cubicle or workspace. [Product]
And if that isn’t techie enough, you can always get one of those crazy USB-powered air-conditioned shirts, but, frankly, the diva in me doesn’t see a puffed out, air filled shirt being all that flattering…I don’t really care how much cooler it is. [via Gizmodo]
